Senior Project Controls Engineer

Position overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced senior project controls engineer to lead and manage project control activities within the engineering & construction (E&C) division. This role is pivotal in ensuring effective planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance monitoring across a diverse portfolio of oil and gas projects. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in project controls systems, material management, and cross-functional coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Lead planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout processes for E&C projects.
• Drive continuous improvement in project controls processes and systems.
• Manage project KPIs, dashboards, and performance reporting.
• Oversee project forecasting, variance analysis, commitment tracking, and status updates.
• Evaluate contractor reports and communicate key insights to stakeholders.
• Ensure accurate and timely data integration across HSEQ, cost, planning, QA/QC, risk, change control, and governance domains.
• Prepare and present reports and presentations for senior leadership (COO, ManCom, etc.).

• Lead onshore and offshore material controllers to ensure timely delivery and avoid delays.
• Represent E&C in the Material Management Committee and lead stock optimization initiatives.
• Minimize unallocated stock and improve inventory control across E&C storage locations.
• Align material supply with project demand through coordination with C&P, logistics, and field operations.
• Manage work orders and ensure accurate linkage between job cards, requisitions, and schedules.

• Customize and manage project control systems (e.g., SAP, Sciforma, BW, Primavera) to meet project needs.
• Act as a focal point for aligning E&C systems with corporate requirements.
• Lead planning tool enhancements to support analytical and risk-based decision-making.
• Identify inefficiencies and recommend optimal business practices and system improvements.
• Review and approve system change requests and lead business case development for enhancements.
• Support digitalization initiatives, including Power BI reporting and user adoption sessions.

Qualifications & experience

• Education: Engineering degree (any discipline).
• Experience: Minimum 10 years in the oil & gas industry, with strong exposure to project controls.
• Proficient in SAP and other project control tools.
• Familiarity with engineering digital solutions (e.g., 3D modeling, mobility platforms).
• Strong data management and analysis skills.
• Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a multicultural environment.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.

Work environment

• Based in Doha, Qatar.
• Standard office hours: 5 days per week.
• Occasional travel to project sites (onshore/offshore, domestic/international).
