Senior Project Engineer

Job description / Role

• Managing D/B Wastewater Projects including Wastewater Treatment Plants, Pumping Stations, etc. throughout the various stages from pre-tendering till commissioning and handing over in full compliance with the project specifications, standards, and codes.
• Successful delivery of projects on time and budget, and in full compliance with all relevant Technical, Quality, Safety and Environmental requirements.
• Assemble and coordinate Project staff, Manage Project budget, Manage Project resource allocation, Plan and schedule Project timelines, Track Project deliverables using appropriate tools, provide direction and support to Project team
• Coordinate with the relevant Departments to develop the project scope of work, tender documents, tendering procedures, contract documents, etc. for the D/B Works and the Supervisory Consultancy Services.
• Coordinate with local utilities, municipalities and stakeholders for obtaining all necessary permits, approvals, clearances, etc., and for concluding all project interfaces.
• Conduct project site visits during the construction phase to ensure conformance to design, specifications, and all applicable codes and standards.
• Provide weekly and monthly status reports on contracts, projects and variation orders.
• Review, verify and process contractor’s and consultant’s payment applications.
• Coordinate all technical and contractual matters related to the assigned project(s).
• Identifying risks and possible problems. Proposing the relevant preventive and mitigative actions.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant Engineering Discipline from an accredited University. Relevant Engineering Master’s Degree and professional qualification PMP or equivalent are preferrable.
• Holding demonstrable GCC working experience in project management.
• Excellent IT skills, knowledge of project management related software.
• Excellent communication skills in English, written and spoken.

Skills and Competencies:
• Minimum 13 years’ overall post graduate experience in major infrastructure projects or programmes in Design-Build, Design-Bid-Build or EPC projects related to Wastewater Treatment Plants and/or Pumping Stations.
• Proven ability to perform in a management capacity and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations are also required. In addition, must be knowledgeable of current technology and how it can be effectively utilised on the Project.
• A “rounded profile”, with experience in strategic planning, risk management and/or change management analysis and commercial considerations
• In-depth knowledge of Project Management procedures.
• Technically proficient in all aspects of Project Management such as technical, commercial, Project controls (programme, planning, risk, systems compliance etc).
• Effective in building good working relationships within complex projects, both internally and with various Project stakeholders.
• Knowledge of relevant codes and standards pertinent to the discipline.
• Thorough knowledge of disciplined engineering techniques related to Wastewater Treatment Plant and/or Pumping Stations.

Desirable Requirements:
• Arabic language skills
• Chartered engineer status from a recognized institution
•Experience of working in Qatar
