Senior Project Engineer (High Voltage)

Job description / Role

Linum Consult’s client is a major international company currently seeking a Senior Project Engineer with a background in High Voltage works to be based in their Doha office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Overseeing the design, specification, and implementation of high voltage electrical systems, including: substations, switchgears, transformers, emergency power systems, etc.
• Reviewing and validating single-line diagrams, load lists, cable schedules, and protection coordination studies
• Reviewing technical specifications submitted by the EPCC contractor during the tendering and subcontract award phases to ensure alignment with approved project-specific requirements
• Actively participating in multidisciplinary engineering development activities including: HAZOP, HAZID, SIL assessments, QRA, 3D model reviews, constructability and operability reviews
• Participating in kick-off meetings with subcontractors to align on technical scope, quality expectations, and schedule
• Collaborating with the construction team to ensure proper installation of high voltage equipment and systems

PROFILE

• Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering, with a professional certification to a suitable engineering organisation
• At least 10 years’ experience in similar roles in large companies, with a minimum of 5 years of major EPC/EPCC project experience involving high voltage systems
• Strong understanding of IEC standards and high voltage systems and equipment, specifically substations, switchgears, transformers, emergency power systems, etc.
• Experienced in HAZOP/HAZID and risk management processes
• Fluent in spoken and written English
• Ideally already located in Qatar with a good understanding of Qatar and GCC culture & working environment
