Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

- Develop written procedures for quality control/quality assurance;
- Perform needed tests on site and in the laboratory to ensure conformity of material and works according to the contract specifications;
- Supervise construction works contracts including quantity measurement, quality, variation and payments;
- Ensure that contractors comply with works’ specifications;
- Establish and maintain procedures to develop standard documentation for construction works and quality control and assurance for the projects;
- Review the existing standard documentation for the Operations Centre and propose any improvements deemed necessary;
- Develop standard quality control procedures to be performed by the contractors
- Liaise with NDT sub-contractors for radiography test, etc.
- View and interpret radiograph films before review by client’s inspectors.
- Follow-up on corrective action of non-conforming products.
- Prepare and compile inspection reports, non-conformance reports and other quality control.
- Monitor welders’ performance and the welding procedures to check for compliance.
- Witness and verify the welding procedures qualification tests and welders’ performance qualification tests.
- Implement and monitor proper storage, handling and usage of welding equipment and welding filter rods.
- Ensure the deliverables of projects meet clients quality and safety requirements
- Develop a procedure to establish norms to define the project-alternatives that will be evaluated for each construction task.
- Preferably many project-alternatives should be evaluated for each construction task, but, as a minimum, two project alternatives must be evaluated
- Develop and conduct robust procedures for quality assurance
- Assess work activities for which labour based construction methods are appropriate and for those sections where heavy machinery is appropriate
- Review of the Bill of Quantities and the contract documents for each section of the construction task;
- Review the bidding and contracting
- Define a procedure for using the cost norms to establish the cost of rehabilitation and maintaining the construction task;
- Supervision of the contractors in the implementation of the work
- Perform any other duties deemed necessary by the Chief Technical Advisor/Project Manager.

Requirements

- Certified Welding Inspector by AWS or CSWIP- WI or Mechanical shall be certified as plant inspector II by CSWIP or knowledge in heating ventilation and air conditioning installation and related standards.
- Minimum 5 years in Inspection and Quality Control of Construction for Power, Oil and Chemical Plants.
- Knowledge in material standards and welding codes (AWS, ASME and API)
- Familiar with steel structure erection, onsite fit up and welding inspection, inspection and handover of civil foundations, review of material test certificates, maintain complete site construction QC file including material identification, non-destructive testing reports, painting and coating of steel.
