Job description / Role
Assure that the bridges are designed in accordance with approved requirements as well as following accepted industry practices and procedures.
Deliverables may include structural designs for single span, multiple span, reinforced concrete, pre-stressed concrete, precast concrete, and steel bridges.
Provide structural specifications, estimating, quantity calculations, technical reports, and detailed engineering analyses.
Completes a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes.
Frequently interfaces with other Engineering disciplines as well as other departments.
Prepares detailed requisitions for equipment and materials.
Reviews supplier drawing submittals and performs technical bid analyses.
Prepares and issues specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
Provides technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.
May act in an advisory capacity to senior management personnel on engineering related matters.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Requirements
4-year degree in Degree in Civil or Structural Engineer or equivalent technical degree, and at least 12 years of related work experience. Experience in design of post tension bridges and other bridge-related design and construction commensurate with the construction of large highway and interchange projects. Registration as a professional engineer is a plus.
Track record steel or concrete bridge design and/or upgrades including engineering and material specifications
Knowledgeable in SAP2000, STAAD, CONSPAN and/or other applicable structural engineering software with Microstation experience a plus.
Proven ability to perform in a management role, excellent written and oral communications skills, and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations are also required.
In addition, must be knowledgeable of current technology and how it can be effectively utilized on the project.
