Our newest opportunity is for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our award-winning team based in Qatar.

Responsibilities

Paramount to success within this varied role will include;

- Assuming the lead role in the preparation of structural designs on assigned projects assigned.
- Responsibility for overall scheduling, planning, developing design and specifications and other required documents related to Structural design as well as mentoring junior engineers.
- At CD and/or SD stage, preparing viable alternative structural concepts and studying these in relation to suitability, constructability, economy and proposing the most suitable alternative.
- Identifying requirements for specialist inputs and ensuring that these are obtained at appropriate times during the design process and ensuring they are incorporated in the structural design, (e.g. wind tunnel, geotechnical/foundation engineering, facade engineering, PT/PS concrete design etc.)
- Carrying out design reviews at appropriate intervals during the design process.
- Preparing structural designs from concept through to detailed design which achieve the following safety, sustainability, durability, serviceability and functional requirements in accordance with international codes.
- Managing other professionals on a project basis, ensuring that work produced is to the required quality, produced on time, and within man-hour budgets.
- Ensuring the structural department's QMS is being implemented and the engineers assigned to QMS functions are fulfilling these functions effectively (on a project basis).
- Monitoring project progress and reporting to Technical Leader on actual or anticipated time and/or man-hour over-runs.
- Responding to site RFIs, conducting reviews of specialist supplier/contractor prepared designs and attending site meetings to resolve construction problems related to structures.
- Attending design team meetings with other disciplines, municipality representatives, site personnel and client representatives.

Requirements

Qualifications

- To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envisage that you will bring a between 10 - 15 years' experience from a similar role working within an Engineering Consultancy environment partnered with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Knowledge of financial terms and principles, with the ability to calculate intermediate figures and conduct intermediate financial analysis.
- Thorough understanding of structural behaviour, soil/structure interaction, local and international design codes and standards.
- Experience in managing and designing large and/or complex structural projects from concept design through to construction document production.
- The ability to use structural analysis and design software, including STAAD, ROBOT, ETABS, SAFE, ADAPT, AutoCAD and REVIT.
- Excellent written and verbal skills with ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders at all levels.
