Senior Technical Writer - Qatar Airways - Doha

In this role you will perform technical writing, editing and proofreading, and translate technical information into clear, readable documents. You will lead the creation of a documentation methodology, ensuring that styles are consistent and that the content is correct, rewriting where required. You will also ensure documentation produced by more junior staff meet Operational Document Standards and employ proper technical terminology

Specific accountabilities include:
• Providing technical guidance in producing company documentation for any approved application (CDMS, Frame Maker, ADOC, Acrobat)
• Checking written texts before they are published to ensure they are accurate, read well and follow in-house style
• Making suggestions for re-writing if required, e.g. if there are any grammatical, spelling or typographical mistakes
• Adding or removing words, phrases or sentences to improve the readability of a text
• Interviewing programmers, developers, and other technical personnel to learn about product technology and development methods
• Creating graphical images, flow charts, and diagrams for use in documentation

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need a Bachelors degree or similar, preferably in the Liberal Arts field (such as English), combined with at least five years of job-related experience. Certification in Communication Technology and familiarity with Web-based Technologies (XML, SGML and HTML) is required. Key to your success is a sound understanding of English spelling, grammar and sentence structure. You will possess a mastery of the written word and have proficiency in English language and writing style.
