Overview:

We are seeking a senior telecom engineer to join a leading engineering and project management team in Qatar. This role involves delivering telecom engineering expertise for large-scale oil and gas projects, ensuring compliance with international standards and providing critical support across engineering and operational functions. The position requires strong technical skills, experience in IT/telecommunications within energy projects, and the ability to interface with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

Deliver telecom engineering activities to support business functions and projects.

Provide detailed IT and telecommunications expertise, ensuring compliance with company processes and standards.

Operate, configure, and control telecom system hardware and software across multiple platforms and networks.

Plan and implement system installations and maintenance, including configuration of infrastructure in virtualised environments.

Prepare outline telecom system designs and specifications covering objectives, scope, features, and requirements.

Manage all stages of the telecom system lifecycle for hardware, software, and transmission media, including design, testing, maintenance, and upgrades.

Lead small-scale projects or sub-projects, identifying and managing risks and issues.

Provide technical instruction and guidance to less experienced colleagues.

Prioritise and resolve incidents in line with agreed procedures.

Ensure all activities comply with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Requirements:

Bacheloru2019s degree in computer science, information technology, information systems, or a related discipline.

Minimum 6 years of IT/telecommunications experience, with at least 4 years in project engineering or project management roles within oil and gas.

Strong knowledge of telecom applications, tools, and international standards.

Demonstrated project management and IT support experience.

Excellent written and spoken English.

Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Broad IT knowledge alongside specialised telecom expertise.

Competent with engineering software tools, systems, and telecom technologies.
