An Operation Engineer is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the performance of equipment and systems used in a Wastewater Treatment Plant. They work to ensure that systems and processes are functioning efficiently and effectively and make recommendations for improvements as needed. Supervises workforce to operate, maintain, and modify facilities in compliance with applicable regulations, laws, and company policies & procedures. The incumbent in this position ensures the continuous collection and treatment of customer wastewater in accordance with all applicable regulations.

Responsibilities:
• Analyze plant performance data and optimize operational parameters - Evaluate and improve plant efficiency through data-driven decision making
• Monitor and ensure compliance with effluent quality specifications - Maintain water quality standards according to contractual and regulatory requirements
• Lead process troubleshooting and implement corrective actions - Identify, provide inputs to operations team to resolve operational issues to maintain optimal performance
• Coordinate water sampling and analytical testing programs - Manage systematic testing protocols to ensure water quality compliance
• Manage process control systems and optimization efforts - Oversee automated systems and implement improvements for better efficiency
• Provide technical support to operations teams - Guide operational staff with expert knowledge and problem-solving assistance
• Conduct mass and energy balance calculations - Perform technical analyses to optimize process flows and efficiency
• Implement energy efficiency initiatives - Develop and execute programs to reduce energy consumption costs
• Monitor and identify opportunities to optimize chemical consumption - Control and reduce chemical usage while maintaining treatment effectiveness
• Liaise with laboratory team for analytical requirements - Coordinate testing schedules and communicate process-specific analytical needs
• Review and interpret laboratory analysis reports - Analyze lab results to make informed process control decisions
• Lead continuous improvement projects - Spearhead initiatives to enhance plant efficiency and reduce costs
• Ensure compliance with QHSE regulations - Maintain adherence to quality, health, safety, and environmental standards
• Develop and conduct technical training programs - Create and deliver educational content to enhance team capabilities
• Maintain process documentation and control charts - Keep accurate records of procedures and performance monitoring data
• Coordinate with operation and maintenance teams for equipment reliability - Work collaboratively to ensure optimal equipment performance and longevity
• Evaluate new technologies and process control methods - Assess and recommend innovative solutions for plant improvement opportunities
• Perform risk assessments for process changes - Evaluate potential impacts and safety concerns of operational modifications
• Participate in safety audits and inspections - Contribute to maintaining safe working environment through regular reviews
• Present technical updates to management - Communicate process performance and improvement initiatives
• Develop cost-benefit analyses for improvements - Evaluate financial impact and feasibility of proposed process changes
• Lead innovation projects and technology upgrades - Drive implementation of new technologies for enhanced plant performance
• Conduct quality control audits at SCADA - Perform regular checks to ensure adherence to correct setpoints are maintained by SCADA and process control instructions are adhered
• Develop standard operating procedures - Create detailed instructions for consistent process execution and training
• Stay current with industry best practices and technologies - Maintain knowledge of latest developments in process engineering field
• Support to Develop and update operational policies and procedures - Create and maintain standardized processes for consistent plant operations
• Validate and review daily process data - Ensure accuracy and completeness of operational data and parameters
• Support preparation of periodic reports - Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual process performance documentation
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management - Support organizational objectives through flexibility and adaptability

Requirements:

• Bachelor in Process/Chemical Engineering and/or sufficient extensive field experience and/or trainings

Experience
• Minimum of 10 years of experience working in utility type industrial facilities.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong technical skills and ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems with equipment and systems
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work collaboratively with other departments and stakeholders
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and evenings if required
