Job description / Role
Strategic Advisor - Technical Office - Qatar
Responsibilities:
• Prepare Periodical Reports
• Provide suggestions and recommendations with regard to Financial and Banking Policies, Mechanisms and suggest Approaches to comply with them
• Provide Recommendation in areas of Specialty
• Provide Views with regard to the Implications of Policies; specially those related to Monetary Policy Aspects
• Suggest Mechanisms and Methods to aid the implementation of various Economic Policies and Plans, and continue to develop them
• Design and create Methodologies and Models to support future Sovereignty Appraisal
• Prepare Responses addressed to International Rating Agencies and Organizations (i.e. IMF, World Bank and International Bank of Settlement)
• Review and check Data and Information accuracy and Responses prepared by departments prior to presenting them to Technical Office Director
• Take initiatives in suggesting new approaches to enhance overall performance of the Technical Office
• Take part in providing Technical Supervision for Researchers work within the office; provide them with necessary guidance
• Review Subjects/Issues forwarded to the Technical Office from Higher Management
• Maintain good up-to-date knowledge of Monetary and Banking Policies and the overall Economic Situation and identify ways to benefit from them
• Prepare Studies and Reports on the Economic Viability of different Procedures and Projects Planned to be implemented
• Technical participation in the preparation process for Conferences, Presentations and Workshops organized by Technical Office
• Participate in the development of Financial Sector and Technical Office’s Strategies; ensure they are aligned; and ensure their contribution to Qatar’s National Development Strategy and National Vision 2030
• Evaluate progress and accomplishments of Plans and Strategic Objectives; associated Opportunities; Risks and Challenges
• Develop proactive Scenarios for specific Economic and Financial Cases and make Recommendations about them to Technical Office Director
• Participate in identifying opportunities for continuous development of Banking Sectors’ Systems; Operations and Practices, through the implementation of Best Practices and the Enhancement of Procedures and Productivity
• Carry out any other relevant task
Requirements
Requirements:
• Economics / Finance Degree and Masters or PHD level with Certifications or Training in Strategy
• 12 years relevant Economics work experience with experience working as an Economist or in an Economic role from a Regulatory background or Central Bank.
• Strong understanding and exposure to Financial and Banking Policies, and Mechanisms
• Strong communication, numerical skills
• Knowledge of Methodologies and Models to support Sovereignty Appraisals
• Strong knowledge of Monetary Policy Aspects
• Good Report writing skills
• Ability to liaise with and influence Senior Stakeholders
• Willing to relocate to Qatar
