Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

- Manage all structural activities at a given project site to facilitate effective completion of projects within timelines and budgets.
The Structural Engineer is responsible for developing structural plans, conducting load and stress calculations, and coordinating with architects and other engineering disciplines, and overseeing construction to ensure compliance with specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Knowledge of current Civil/Structural Engineering technology and its effective use on the project.
- Experience in managing/supervising large civil/structural and/or marine projects.
- Extensive experience in Inspections of work & review of contractors' shop drawings
- Experience in Microsoft applications. Familiar with project management tools and/or software
- Understand client requirements, conduct site studies, cost estimations, plan tendering activities, and provide structural engineering inputs for contractor evaluation for assigned projects.
- Plan for value engineering and risk management for sites and structures to help onsite construction teams deliver civil and structural solutions, ensuring regulatory compliance with standards.
- Work with the corporate-level technical team to resolve structural engineering-related escalations from the project site.
- Implement standardized methodologies and procedures to ensure consistent and demonstrate high quality in performing the service.
- Coordinate all structural engineering activities at project sites.
- Develop all onsite Civil/Structural engineering calculations, project plans, designs, project specifications, and project cost/budget estimates as required.
- Serve as the onsite resource for all matters related to Civil and Structural engineering, and provide feedback and sketches to be incorporated in drawings by the Designers
- Monitor and supervise onsite structural and civil engineering activities for conformance with the provisions of the Contract specifications and project requirements.
- Perform site activities such as inspection and record of existing field conditions, take and verify measurements within the project area reviews the day-to-day contractors' claims at project sites, facilitates problem solving with subcontractors and Clients during construction.
- Prepare technical documents and assist in the receipt and review of contractors' as-built drawings and submittals, and validate design issues related to C&S and suggest alternative solutions and field drawings to contractors/project teams as required.
- Synergize with the project commissioning team to ensure that all projects are meticulously commissioned to deliver world-Class standards of quality for QPM clients.
- Ensure appropriate usage and application of the Project Management System (PMS) concerning the entry and analysis of work-related data for day-to-day functioning to facilitate seamless communication of all relevant (technical/non-technical) information across the organization on a real-time basis for maximum effectiveness.
- Assist in the scope review of a project, budgeting, and justification of change work order, and coordinate for onsite related tasks, materials, systems, drawings, and submittals related to Civil and Structural engineering at the QPM project site.
- Attend and participate in Client and QPM site meetings and reviews to direct the activities of onsite Civil and Structural engineering activities carried out by project teams, subcontractors etc, based on meeting feedback.
- Assist in the testing and commissioning of structures and oversee the review and approval process for all Civil and Structural engineering activities submittals.
- Liaison with local authorities and ministerial agencies.
- Assist in negotiations with site contractors regarding the value of claims or changes in schedules, and prepare Recommendations for approval or rejection.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Construction Managers (onsite), to collate and analyze periodic reports to help Understanding project performance against Structural engineering standards and driving remedial actions.
- Interface with clients in relation to QPM's Structural engineering onsite activities
- Oversee and advise on the estimates prepared by the QS/Cost Control concerning structural engineering, and analyze periodic cost reports to monitor performance
- Coordinate with QA and HSE teams onsite on a daily basis to ensure compliance of structural engineering systems with all Quality and HSE requirements
- Collaborate with other construction engineering disciplines to enhance QPM's project execution capabilities and solutions.
- Establish and develop professional relationships with peer professionals in the industry at the local and regional level to track industry practices and innovation.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends, methodologies, tools, and best practices in project cost management.
- Adopt and adapt good practices from the industry into QPM to ensure continuous rejuvenation and upgrades to QPM's engineering capabilities.

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
- Numerical, Program / Project Management, Attention to detail, Analytical and problem solving, Drive for excellence, People management, Communication.
- Using computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering design documents
- Assessing design risk and project cost estimating
- Perform field activities to observe and record existing field conditions, take and verify measurements within project area
- Organize, draft, and coordinate technical documents
- Cost management and control techniques and tools (value engineering)
