Structural Engineer - Planning

Job description / Role

• Understand work scope, quantity and familiar with logical sequences in terms of engineering, manufacturing and construction disciplines.
• Understand WBS structure, and work with management and project team in the development of work break down structure for progress measurement, scheduling, cost estimating and project control.
• Develop and implement plan versus actual progress charts (histograms/S curves). Reports and analyses deviations from plan.
• Present risk based analysis of most likely completion and expected deviation range.
• Reviews and comments on all component programmes as produced by the contractor including design, procurement and construction of all civil, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation matters
• Progress reporting to the site team and as required by the Client
• Preparing progress reports and mentoring achievement targets and deadlines.
• Selects the most appropriate techniques and logical sequence of activities to complete project scope.
• Inputs the work breakdown structure information in means to assess an accurate forecast on time, resources and cash flow of the project.
• Sets up alerts for all important contractual and milestone dates
• Prepares cash flow, charts and histograms on planning projects
• Verifies critical path and interfaces between design/ engineering/ procurement / execution
• Monitors progress periodically and compares it with the baseline planning
• Updates the schedule based on inputs received from project team
• Develop probable construction cost estimates for the projects within the department.
• Handle routine contract administration.
• Attend and participate in Client meetings.
• Capable and experienced in managing and performing projects in a fast paced.

Requirements

• Must be a Grade A certified Engineer from MMUP.
• Excellent proficiency in English Language (Reading, Writing, and Speaking)
• AutoCAD proficiency
• Primavera and Microsoft Project
• Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of LEED and/or GSAS & BIM
• Knowledge of production rates and costs for most of construction activities.

Shall be familiar with Qatar Construction Specifications, and American codes and standards, but not limited to:
• Qatar Construction Specifications, QCS 2014
• American Society for Testing and Materials, ASTM
• British Standards, BS
• American Concrete Institute, ACI 318-14
• American Society of Civil Engineers, ASCE
• International Building Code, IBC
• American Institute of steel construction, AISC
