Job description / Role
The main responsibility of the Structural Engineer is to assist the Construction Project Managers in the supervision and monitoring of the station entrance shelters being constructed by the Design & Build Contractor for the Doha Metro Gold Line Project and providing technical advice on the structural aspects of the shelter construction.
• Review and comment on the shelter submissions submitted by the D&B Contractor.
• Provide technical advice on the structural aspects of the shelter construction.
• Liaise with, proactively assist and provide technical advice to the Construction, Quality, Stakeholder, Risk, Health & Safety and Project Controls Teams, as required to ensure the Client’s requirements are met.
• Liaise with, proactively assist and provide technical advice to the other technical disciplines within the Engineering Team, as required to ensure the shelter construction is fully integrated and interfaced.
• Assist with the preparation of weekly and monthly reports on the progress of the shelters and related technical issues.
• Attend project meetings and workshops with the client and the D&B Contractor and provide proactive advice on station shelter issues, as required.
Requirements
BSc in Civil / Structural Engineering - MSc in Structural Engineering would be an advantage.
Minimum (10) years in civil/ structural design projects with at least (2) years of specific experience of supervision of structural steelwork construction and at least (1) year of structural steelwork design experience.
