System/Network Engineer

Job description / Role

The Company
Our Client, a leading Financial Services Institution is currently seeking a senior Network/Systems Engineer to install, test, maintain, upgrade and improve the operating environment, new utilities, hardware, computing platforms and infrastructure, in line with business requirements and IT strategy.

The Role

Core Competencies
* Ensure that operating systems, system software and system management tools comply to the required IT standards (e.g. SLA's) and to the highest levels of availability
* Act as 3rd Line support to ensure internal customer satisfaction
* Evaluate future technologies to make recommendations for software and hardware upgrades liaising with the vendors and architects
* Define improvements and monitor for increased system reliability and performance

Accountabilities

Solutions Analysis
* Scope and develop business requirements documents for (new) system projects and prepare business cases for senior management

Development:
* Conduct research on software and systems products, design and deploy new applications and enhancements to existing applications

Advice:
* Propose system design models, specifications, diagrams and charts to provide direction to other departments

Stakeholder Management:
* Build and maintain effective working relationships with third parties such as system software / hardware vendors, consultants and/or contractors

Testing & Monitoring:
* Develop, perform and monitor (in-depth) tests of the system performance, analyse the outcomes and compare it with benchmarks and standards and with defined internal Service Level Agreements

Reporting:
* Report on system performance and incidents, identify and investigate problems, report on findings and propose actions / improvements;

Requirements

The Candidate

Person Specifications:

* Bachelor's degree in computer science or systems engineering or equivalent
* 6 - 8 years relevant experience as a System engineer, Network Engineer or Infrastructure Expert
* In-depth knowledge of MS Suite; Active Directory, Exchange, SCCM, SCOM, SCVVM etc
* MCSE -Core Infrastructure certification highly desirable

Salary and Benefits

25,000 - 35,000 based on experience
