Systems Engineer (Technology Services) - Qatar Airways - Doha

You will be responsible for the implementation, installation, maintenance and support of all IT Technologies, functions, and processes within IT Technology Services ensuring quality service is provided to the end users of Qatar Airways and its subsidiary organizations to achieve their business objectives. Responsible for following up on System Administration activities for IT systems on a regular basis to ensure maximum uptime.

Operational
• Ensures and monitors on a continuous basis for regular IT software, security and Operating system patches updates are implemented as part of IT Patch Management cycle on all hardware and software to keep up to date the patches for all latest versions.
• Following up with QR Vendors and Information Systems Providers for ensuring proper systems support in order to handle system upgrades, fixes and enhancements whenever required.
• Responsible for follow ups with Vendors/suppliers on IT supplies of hardware, software and end user computer accessories and ensures proper delivery of IT equipment as per orders submitted
• Ensures continuous follows up and monitors the installation and upgrade of anti-virus products and other IT Security software pro-actively to safeguard the company data from the possible IT threats.
• Responsible for regular updates and monitoring of IT assets in the IT Asset Management system to ensure all IT assets are properly reordered, issued, updated and disposed of as per end of life cycle.
• Responsible for installation, maintenance, support and troubleshooting for IT Systems and their relevant technology areas are carried out on a 24 X 7 basis as per procedures laid down to ensure quick resolution for IT faults or incidents reported.
• In case of system failures provide technical support round the clock for TS Infrastructure and other products and ensure reduced down time to the business units
• Responsible for User Profile Management and Access Control on Servers, applications, Databases systems to ensure security of the IT systems and their access as per existing policies and standards.
• Provides periodic reports as and when required by the management.
• Monitors and supervises all IT Operational jobs including Backup/Recovery are performed on a periodic basis (i.e. Daly, Weekly or monthly) for all the IT systems hosted at Qatar Airways Data Centre(s) as per current instructions and policies.
• Delegates the tasks to other members of the Team regarding documentation of all IT procedures, standards and policies and follows up if its updates are carried out on a regular basis and these are stored in a central repository.

Development
• Take responsibility for own ongoing personal development and growth of expertise.
• Train and develop other employees, for proper succession planning and risk management.
• Assist in the response to any emergency or a major operational disruption affecting Qatar Airways or its subsidiaries, including support of the Qatar Airways Special Assistance Program.
• Other duties and responsibilities as requested by Management

Operational Safety
• Ensure full awareness of work health and safety requirements and expectations in order to minimise health and safety risks for self and colleagues.
• Ensure compliance to all relevant safety, security, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the operation to guarantee employee safety, security, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality service with a responsible environmental attitude
• Take a direct and personal interest in reported injuries, incidents, near misses and hazards to ensure that appropriate reporting, investigation and response is being achieved.

Requirements

You should hold Bachelor Degree with minimum 4 years of job related experience in Server Hardware and Operating systems, Storage systems, Networks, Databases, Enterprise Management systems and End user devices and technologies. IT Certification course in CCNA/CCNP/MCP or MCSA or ITIL will be preferred.

Job Specific Skills:
• Knowledge of Servers Operating systems (Windows and Linux) and associated hardware/software.
• Knowledge of Database software and maintenance.
• Knowledge of Structured Cabling and Network devices and their configuration.
• Knowledge of End User devices configuration and Technologies.
• Strong experience in Administration and Troubleshooting of Servers Operating systems (Windows and Linux), Virtualisation technologies and associated hardware/software.
• Experience in Patch Management and Monitoring solutions.
• Knowledge of Storage and Backup technologies.
