Systems Installation Inspector

Job description / Role

Monitor work carried out on various construction / Metro sites to ensure safety and quality is upheld and ensuring the installation reflects the approved design drawings. They will need to carry out regular inspections, checking quality of work, searching out any defects / snags, and then reporting all findings to the construction management team. The candidate must be capable of undertaking complex technical support tasks including work’s supervision.

Main responsibilities:
- Working with a host of operatives including engineers and supervisors.
- Monitoring systems installation process from start to finish.
- Checking quality of work .
- Ensuring installation and material usage follow approved design plans and installation drawings.
- Ensuring all works on site are carried out to an approved method statement.
- Daily reporting to the construction management team.
- Checking for any snags / defects.
- Certifying the installation of Rail Systems equipment through the Installation Release Notice.
- Witnessing rail systems equipment testing.
- Making sure building / railway regulations and health and safety regulations are adhered to.
- Making sure all documentation on site is approved and up to date.
- Able to monitor installation progress against programme making sure key milestones are hit.
- Carrying out daily inspections on construction sites and ensuring material are properly protected and good housekeeping is kept at all times.
- Ability to liaise and coordinate with the Rail Systems Discipline Engineers for installation progress, technical issues that may arise on site.

Requirements

- Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is advantageous.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience. Good knowledge of Rail / Metro systems with a minimum 5 years’ experience in installations on rail systems projects.
- Must have a minimum 3 years supervisory experience
- Good knowledge of Rail Systems components and installation requirements
- Must be fluent in English with good written and oral communication skills.
- Must have good attention to detail.
- Must be organised and have a practical approach to any issues arising on site.
- Must be familiar with different international standards relating to railway regulations and H&S regulations.
- Being able to effectively communicate with team members.
- Able to work with a range of multi-disciplined operatives / engineers.
- Good understanding of technical plans / drawings is essential.
- Must be able to endure being on site for several hours in very hot climate conditions.
