Tax Advisor

Job description / Role

- Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize taxation at the Company and the Group level.
- Manage tax compliance process and deliverables of local operations ensuring all reporting obligations are satisfied accurately and timely as per tax laws and regulations of the State of Qatar.
- Manage tax compliance process and deliverables of international operations/investments ensuring all reporting obligations are satisfied accurately and timely as per local tax laws and regulations of such foreign operations/ investments.
- Monitor local and international tax legislative developments and advise on impacts and opportunities, as well as with respect to current and proposed transactions.
- Research, analyze and report tax issues at the Company and the Group level.
- Assist in the due diligence process for potential acquisitions by preparing financial models to assess tax impact and preparing international tax planning initiatives.
- Plan, design and implement process improvements related taxation.
- Develop team of tax professionals with expertise in local and international taxation.
- Developing / enhancing templates for foreign entities financial and management reporting.
- Review of foreign entities performance reporting deliverables.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations and follow up on identified discrepancies.
- Records the intercompany transactions after collecting the relevant supporting documents.
- Perform periodical and year-end procedures related to closure of books of accounts.
- Liaise and follow-up with assigned entities to comply with year-end closing, reporting and audit in order to meet the deadlines at the group level.
- Maintain and update files and records of all agreements and contracts, important management decisions and correspondence, bank records, HR information etc. relating to foreign entities.
- Identify and report all the critical issues in the foreign entities including the budget adequacy, compliance of local laws and regulations, major disputed or outstanding amounts etc.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in Tax, Finance or related discipline
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in tax, audit and accounting environment, which may be Big 4s and/or large or medium size organizations in the industry. The above experience must include minimum 5 years of work experience in international tax planning, compliance and reporting.
- Master’s degree and / or professional certifications of CPA/CA
- Certification in Tax courses are preferred

- Extensive knowledge of Qatar and International Tax Laws & Regulations
- Transfer pricing and tax treaty agreements
- International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Strong research and analytical skills

- Computer skills (Microsoft Office, internet and email applications)
- Industry knowledge in the media sector is strongly preferred
