Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

• Ensure that cargo loading, discharge, stowing and securing activities at Mesaieed Port are completed within time and are carried out in accordance with the cargo plan established HSSE rules and regulations and equipment operation manual.
• Complete and submit operational reports/logs as well as any discharge/load/vessel lists/documents to the appropriate recipients in an accurate and timely manner.
• Supervise and develop effective methods to maintain the cargo's physical security and reflect the cargo type and anticipated passage conditions.
• Ensure effective documentation relating to the loading and discharging of cargo is completed and properly filed for easy retrieval if manual or is entered into the TOS where required.
• Advise the Cargo Controller on the resources required to complete cargo loading, discharging, storage and securing activities ensuring optimised utilisation of all available resources.
• Reports to the Cargo Controller and all concerned personnel relating to incidents,damage or defects and recommend effective rectifications to minimise the risk to personnel, equipment or the vessels.
• Ensure effective and safe usage of cargo handling equipment, including cranes, fork lifts, lifting devices, pumps and pipeline systems, dry bulk self-discharging systems, etc.
• Maintain records of cargo handling operating costs, inspections, maintenance and repair works.
• Ensure that Foremen are checking use of the right Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all manual labours and operation personnel.
• Ensure that cargo handling equipment and vehicles usage hours are recorded and authorized signatures are obtained; and visit the vessels for inspection at regular intervals.
• Ensure that the quayside cargo handling/storage areas are clear of all unnecessary obstacles that may impact on operations and/or cause unnecessary hazards.
• Conduct regular quality audits to ensure adherence to Milaha regulations and standards.
• Ensure accurate tallying of freight, cargo, goods and materials handled and match them with relevant fees and invoices.
• Ensure that all necessary information and development are passed on to the next Supervisor in duty to assure continuity of effective operations.
• Provide recommendations on new subordinate hires and ensure the availability of all resources required to perform assigned tasks and activities.
• Supervise subordinate staff, assign work activities, monitor and appraise performance and review results.
• Act as a coach to subordinates, identify their training and career development,recommend training courses and follow-up on their personnel records such as time sheets, discipline, vacations, leaves and absenteeism.

Requirements

Education & Professional Qualification
• Experience at sea on general cargo vessels or equivalent work related experience in port operations.

Geographic Experience
• Min 5 years of experience in a capacity handling and cargo operations.
• At least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge in port operations and vessels loading or unloading equipment and tools.
• Strong knowledge of related health, safety, security and environmental regulations.
• Strong knowledge of personal protective clothing and equipment.
