Yard Engineering Lead

Qualifications & experience required

Bachelor's degree in engineering.

8 years of relevant engineering experience in a major project environment within the oil and gas industry and having a broad knowledge of engineering execution including design standards, specifications, codes, safety criteria, offshore facilities design, construction, and operations.

Technical and business skills

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on teamwork and the ability to communicate and interact within a PMT.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in multi-disciplinary, multicultural teams in offshore environments.
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
• A high level of proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Computer literacy involving the regular use of professional office applications and some technical applications.
• Good knowledge of mechanical equipment, piping, pipeline, structural, instrument, telecom, piping, and electrical.

Activities

• Provide follow-on engineering support to the fabrication yard, to support construction and commissioning activities and close out of engineering.
• Review contractor engineering site queries and red line mark up of engineering deliverables to support as-building activities.
• Provide on-site technical guidance and act as engineering interface between fabrication site and engineering design office, to resolve site engineering issues.
• Participate in key design workshops and ensure that workshop recommendations are correctly implemented and actions closed (lessons learned, value engineering, HAZIDs, etc.).
• Coordinate with subject matter experts with respect to the disciplines involved in delivery of the topsides and ensure endorsement of technical deviations to company specifications when required.
• Ensure contractor follows management of change procedures with respect to any design changes initiated from the field.
• Attend FATs/SATs and support field commissioning activities.
• Coordination and development of procedures for smooth handover of equipment packages to operations.
• Ensure on-time issuance of engineering deliverables to support site activities.
