Project Director - Airport Construction

Our client a leading International Tier 1 Contractor is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Project Director to lead the successful delivery of a major international airport construction project in Rwanda. The Project Director will be responsible for the overall management, execution, and completion of the project, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, quality, and safety standards. This is a high-profile opportunity to contribute to a landmark infrastructure development in Rwanda.

Key Responsibilities:
* Provide overall leadership and direction to the project team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
* Develop and implement the project execution plan, including detailed schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
* Oversee all aspects of construction, from site preparation and earthworks to terminal building construction, runway development, and installation of airport systems.
* Manage and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
* Ensure strict adherence to quality control and quality assurance procedures.
* Implement and enforce robust health, safety, and environmental (HSE) management systems.
* Monitor project progress, identify potential risks and challenges, and implement effective mitigation strategies.
* Prepare regular progress reports for senior management and client stakeholders.
* Manage project finances, including cost control, forecasting, and reporting.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant local and international regulations and standards.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with client representatives, government authorities, and local communities.

* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is essential.
* MBA or equivalent business qualification is highly desirable.
* Minimum of 15 years of experience in construction project management, with a proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale infrastructure projects.
* Must have demonstrable experience as a Project Director or in a similar senior leadership role on the construction of at least one international airport with a main contractor. This experience must be clearly detailed in the application.
* Extensive knowledge of airport construction techniques, technologies, and regulations.
* Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
* Experience working in international and multicultural environments, preferably in Africa.
* Proficiency in project management software and tools.
