The facility includes the largest dedicated Children's Hospital in the Middle East which opened in June 2015. A state-of-the art developments such as Cardiac and Liver Center; Emergency Care and Trauma Center continues to be the best Trauma Care Center in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is ranked as the 4th Emergency Care Center outside the United States of America, to provide (PHTLS) Pre-Hospital Trauma and Life Support program. Dental, Ambulatory (Outpatient) Care, Long Term Care/ Rehabilitation, Other adult and pediatric services provided include: Surgical and Medical wards, Oncology. Obstetrics and Gynecology (Labor and Delivery, Oncology, Antenatal and Post Partum wards); Oncology, Neonatal ICU, Operating Rooms, Ambulatory Care Center, Home Health Care Program, VIP Wards, Royal Suite, College of Medicine and Nursing College.

UNIT NAME: KASCH - Triage
Patient Population:
Pediatric population aging 0 to 14 years old.
Mixed gender

Hours of Operation: 24 hours / 7 days per week

Occupancy Rate:
Triage receives between 170 to 230 visits in 24 hours and about 90% admission rate to the emergency care.

PRIMARY PATIENT DIAGNOSES:
Disaster Triage -to give most effective care to greatest number of patients.
Non Disaster Triage -to give the maximum care for every pediatric patients 0 to 14 years old with the following case presentation;
- Pediatric trauma, medical and surgical emergencies which are categorize according to the CTAS guidelines and time frames from Registered Nurse (RN) assessment to the Physician's assessment.
Level 1- Resuscitation. Patient with life threatening condition and to be seen by both RN and Physicians immediately.
Level 2- Emergent. Patient with potential life, limb and sight threatening conditions which will be seen by RN immediately and Physicians within 15 minutes.
Level 3 - Urgent. Patients with significant respiratory compromise which will be seen by both RN and Physicians within 30 minutes.
Level 4- Less Urgent. Patient with mild to moderate discomfort which will be seen by RN and Physicians within 60 minutes.
Level 5 - Non Urgent. Patients with condition that can be seen by both RN and Physician within 120 minutes.

NURSING PROCEDURES:
Two-tiered System of triage utilizing Canadian Triage Acuity Scale (CATS).
- First Stage Triage Reception - RN led triage -Primary triage.
- Second Stage Assessment Room - Team approach by Triage RN and Physician to the following;
Identify patient requiring immediate care.
Determining appropriate area for patient treatment.
Nursing assessment of patient according to the CTAS guidelines and re-triaging when applicable.
Utilizing and activating clinical pathways and protocols.

Requirements
Registered Nurse with current Nursing license - E
Diploma in Nursing (Western standard) - Essential
Two (2) years current clinical experience in specific area of practice - E
Specific Certification as Required in area of assignment - E
English Language Skills: Level I - E
Computer Skills: Proficient - E
