Employment: Full Time

As an Accounts and Business Development Senior your primary role is to prospect for new clients by networking, cold calling, advertising or other means of generating interest from potential clients. You would work to improve the market position and achieve financial growth for Audit Advisory. You would identify and build key customer relationships, identify business opportunities, assist with the negotiation and closure of business deals and maintain extensive knowledge of current market conditions.

It is your job to work with the internal team, marketing staff, and other managers to increase sales opportunities and thereby maximize revenue. You would also help manage existing clients and ensure they stay satisfied and positive.

Part of this role is to work with mid and senior level management, marketing, and technical staff and manage the activities of others responsible for developing business for the company.

The main duties of the role can be summarized as follows:

New Business Development
- Prospect for potential new clients and turn this into increased business.
- Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network.
- Identify potential clients / opportunities within the market to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities.
- Research and build relationships with new clients.
- Set up meetings between client decision makers and company’s practice leaders/Principals.
- Work with team to develop proposals that speaks to the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives.
- Handle objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements and working through differences to a positive conclusion.
- Present an image that mirrors that of the client.
- Client Retention
- Work with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs.
- Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs.

Business Development Planning
- Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
- Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on business trends.
- Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales.
- Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
- Management and Research
- Submit weekly progress reports and ensure data is accurate.
- Ensure that data is accurately entered and managed within the leads and sales management log.
- Track and record activity on accounts and help to close deals to meet these targets.
- Work with marketing staff to ensure that prerequisites (like prequalification or getting on a vendor list) are fulfilled within a timely manner.

Business Development Responsibilities

A business development professional has two primary responsibilities:
- Identifying new sales leads
- Maintaining fruitful relationships with existing customers

When it comes to generating leads, day-to-day duties typically include:
- Researching organisations and individuals online (especially on social media) to identify new leads and potential new markets
- Researching the needs of other companies and learning who makes decisions about purchasing
- Contacting potential clients via email or phone to establish rapport and set up meetings
- Planning and overseeing new marketing initiatives
- Attending conferences, meetings, and industry events

When it comes to the challenge of actually selling, other typical duties include:
- Contacting clients to inform them about new developments in the company’s products
- Negotiating and renegotiating by phone, email, and in person
- Developing sales goals for the team and ensuring they are met
- Training personnel and helping team members develop their skills

To keep healthy relationships with clients, this mostly requires socialisation. So from simple chats on the phone to lunches and events or conferences business development managers must be sure to keep their customers happy. Of course, as with all office jobs, documentation is also a big part of the work. Business development professionals are also obligated to write reports and provide feedback to upper management about what is and is not working.
