Accounts Payable Accountant

Job description / Role

Job purpose

Perform and execute accounts payable processes (invoices, payments, reconciliations, reports, vendor relations processes) and ensure timely and accurate financial transactions in line with internal policies and external regulations.

Key accountability areas

Invoice processing:
Process and verify vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and proper authorization.
Resolve invoice disputes with vendors before posting to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Verify invoice accuracy and secure appropriate authorizations to ensure compliance before processing.

Payment processing:
Initiate and process payments for vendors, ensuring that payments are timely, within agreed terms, and properly authorized.

Vendor reconciliation:
Perform regular vendor account reconciliations to ensure that inquiries and discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly.

Vendor relations:
Maintain effective communication with vendors and resolve disputes promptly.

Compliance and documentation:
Maintain accurate records of invoices, payments, and correspondence for audit purposes.

Reporting:
Prepare and update regular reports such as outstanding balances, aging, etc.

Role accountability

HR proficiency:
Ability to obtain updated soft and technical skills related to the job.

Delivery:
Perform the planned activities to meet operational and development targets as per delivery schedules.
Utilize resources effectively to achieve objectives within efficient cost and time.
Provide periodic reports detailing deviations and execution of planned tasks.

Problem-solving:
Solve any related problems that arise and escalate complex operational issues.

Quality:
Ensure quality requirements by developing effective quality control and processes including specifications for products, processes, or related activities.

Business process improvements:
Coordinate well-defined written systems, policies, procedures, and seek automation opportunities as much as possible.

Compliance:
Comply with related policies, procedures, and work instructions.

Health, safety, and environment:
Ensure compliance with relevant safety, quality, and environmental management procedures and controls within the defined area of work activity to guarantee safety, legislative compliance, and delivery of high-quality products and services.

Academic qualification

Bachelor degree in accounting and finance or any relevant field.

Work experience

2 to 4 years.
