Our client is a modern state-of-the-art specialist Hospital and Academic Research medical facility located in Saudi Arabia who provides the highest level of specialised healthcare alongside postgraduate education programmes supporting Residency and Fellowship training.

We are recruiting for a Assistant Consultant - Adult Emergency Medicine.
Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of medical diseases and conditions, as well as the provision of medical care in the field of Adult Emergency Medicine, in accordance with current medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations and the hospital's policies and procedures.

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Administrative Responsibilities
• Undertakes the administrative duties assigned by Head of Section or Chairman of the department.
• Participates in all mandatory departmental activities and serves on departmental and hospital committees, as required.
• Assists the department in the development and implementation of techniques and practices that help maximize the utilization of all resources within the department and across the organisation.
• Abides by the current hospital and medical staff bylaws, all relevant rules, regulations and policies and keeps updated of any changes that might occur.
• Assists the Consultant by providing required patient care and management in the field of Adult Emergency Medicine in accordance with standards of medical care laid down by the organisation. Evaluates and stabilizes patients present in the emergency department with an emergency medical condition.
• Treats adult patients with acute illnesses or injuries which require immediate medical attention by diagnosing the emergency medical conditions and stabilizing the patient for definitive care.
• Prevents diagnoses and manages acute and urgent aspects of illness and injury affecting adult patients across a full spectrum of undifferentiated physical and behavioural disorders.
• Attends all adult patients, treats their illnesses and arranges for their disposition - either admitting them to an appropriate service or releasing them after treatment with follow-up plans.
• Performs a variety of advanced procedural skills under consultant supervision including surgical procedures, trauma resuscitation, advanced cardiac life support and advanced airway management.
• Assists and provides emergency coverage for adults in the hospital emergency department.
• Liaises with various support service departments and medical specializations to provide appropriate and timely medical care.
• Complies with all hospital standards and policies pertaining to acceptance, eligibility, admission processes, consultation, daily patient care, operating room, outpatient practices, and patient discharge.
• Initiates and assists with investigations and ensures findings are recorded. Assesses patients' diseases or conditions to determine appropriate therapeutic modalities/procedures.
• Assists and ensures appropriate patient preparation for procedures/surgery and performs procedures/surgery as indicated in the signed clinical privilege form.
• Follows up on investigation results for ER patients and modified treatment accordingly.
• Performs any other clinical responsibilities, as assigned.
• Advises junior staff on patient management, especially in the field of Adult Emergency Medicine
• Promotes educational activities for Residents, Fellows, and fellow Assistant consultants, junior staff and other members of the department.
• Keeps abreast with all the latest techniques and developments, especially in the field of Adult Emergency Medicine, following and implementing them on a selective basis to improve technical standards.
• Actively participates in the educational activities and training programs of the department.

Requirements

Our client requests graduation from an accredited medical school in good standing, completion of required period of postgraduate training in a specialty and/or subspecialty with American Board or Canadian/UK certification or equivalent. Sub-specialty training and certification is required.

Years of training in specialty/subspecialty plus postgraduate training must be more than seven (7) years. Has worked in the specialty/subspecialty as a consultant for at least two (3) years.
