The Role

- To manage the laundry department as professional, efficient and flexible service department ensuring maximum satisfaction of Laundry operations, consistent with Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts standards through planning, organizing, directing and controlling the Laundry Department Operation and administration.
- To manage the external laundry service provider as professional, efficient and flexible service provider ensuring maximum quality and productivity for the Laundry operations, consistent with Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts standards through planning, organizing, directing and controlling the Laundry Department Operation and administration

To fulfil the duties the jobholder is given the relevant authority to reach the goals by the General Manager of the Hotel operation.

Key Deliverables and Responsibilities

- To understand and strictly adhere to the Rules & Regulations established in the Employees Handbook and the Hotel's policy on Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety.
- To report for duty punctually wearing the correct uniform and name tag at all times.
- To maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene at all times as per Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts grooming standards.
- To maintain a good rapport and working relationship with staff in the outlet and all other departments.
- To attend and contribute to all staff meetings Departmental and Hotel trainings scheduled and other related activities.
- To fully support the Departmental Training Function in the Department assigned.
- To undertake any reasonable tasks and secondary duties as assigned by the Housekeeping Manager.
- To respond to any changes in the Public Area Department function as dictated by the hotel.
- To project at all times a positive and motivated attitude and exercise self-control.
- To have a complete understanding of the Income Audit Section in the Operations Manual and Policies & Procedures.
- To provide a courteous and professional service at all times.
- To attend all meetings as required by Executive Management.

Planning & organizing:

- To assist in identifying training needs and plan training programs for the employees.
- To ensure that the place of work employees are Multi Skilled and have the necessary skills to perform their duties with maximum efficiency, through consistent training in accordance with the Annual Training Plan.
- To liaise and inform Department Head and Human Resources Department of all training sessions.
- To fully support the Departmental Trainers function in the Department assigned.
- To train Assistant Managers ensuring that they have the necessary skills to perform their duties with the maximum efficiency.
- To ensure that all employees provide a courteous and professional service at all times.
- To supervise the employees within the department, ensuring that the correct standards and methods of service are maintained as stated in the Department Operations Manual.
- To ensure that all employees maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene at all times.
- To ensure that all employees report for duty punctually wearing the correct uniform and name badge at all times as per Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts Dubai grooming standards.
- To assist in the building of an efficient team of employees by taking an active interest in their welfare, safety and development.
- To ensure that all employees have a complete understanding of and adhere to the Hotel's Employee Rules & Regulations.
- To ensure that all employees have a complete understanding of and adhere to the hotel's policy relating to Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety.
- To assist in the training of the employees ensuring that they have the correct standards and methods of service are maintained as stated in the Department' Operations Manual.

Operations:

- To be responsible for the supervision/ co-ordination of all the laundry staff by ensuring that all serviced offered by the laundry department are available and carried out with the utmost efficiency.
- To have a full working knowledge of all the washing, dry cleaning, presser machines and all equipment utilized in the laundry for operation and maintenance.
- To have a full knowledge and understanding of all the chemical products utilized and their proper and economical use.
- Proper storage the environmental and proper disposal of all toxic products.
- To coordinate with materials department in ordering cleaning and laundry supplies and ensure there are sufficient supplies and up to established par.
- To have a full knowledge of all the textiles and their proper care.
- To have a full knowledge of all washing, dry cleaning maintenance etc. procedures of all the laundry department procedures.
- To check washing, dry cleaning formulas as well as the consumption of cleaning material.
- Ensure corrections are made if required.
- Constantly check the linen, uniform for cleanliness and defects recommended replacement to the Housekeeping Manager if necessary.
- To supervise the distribution of all articles to ensure adequate supply of linen as well as the efficient handling of guest, managers and employees uniforms. Ensure proper controlling.
- To maintain a record of consumption of all the chemicals per wash and establish a record and analyze.

Requirements

Administration:

- To assist in the revision and updating of the Departmental Operations Manual on an as needed basis.
- To assist in the formulation of the Annual Marketing Plan to establish a list of marketing activities in line with the compilation of the Annual Business Plan.
- To maintain the Daily Log Book.
- To plan the weekly roster and work schedules to ensure that the place of work is adequately staffed to handle the level of business.
- To maintain work place communication board.
- To submit all guest / staff incident reports.
- To report "Lost & Found" items, and handle them in accordance to the Policy & Procedures.

Occasional duties:

- To carry out quarterly, bi-yearly, yearly inventory of operating equipment as well as conducting monthly par stock checks.
- To carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Laundry and engineering:

- To ensure that all machines are well maintained.
- To coordinate all repair and maintenance and issue repair and maintenance work
- orders to ensure the proper maintenance of the Laundry
