Job description / Role

Key Relationships: Internal: Tourpusher, Toolpusher, QHSET Supervisor, Maintenance Supervisor
External: Operator’s Rep., Regulatory Authorities, Third Party Service providers

• Develops and implements Job Hazard Analysis and prepares risk assessments.
• Participates in Atlantica’s behavior based safety program; ABLE (Atlantica Behavioral Learning Event)
• Ensures adherence to all Atlantica’s safety policies and procedures
• Participates in weekly and pre-tour safety meetings
• Personally responsible for own safety and conducting one’s self in alignment with Atlantica’s IMS standards
• Promote and promulgate Atlantica safety program
• Demonstrates safety leadership and be proactive in safety initiatives.
• Apply Atlantica safety policies and practices in rig operations and act as a role model to other crew members in all safety matters
• Conduct and record Tool Box Talks for the rig crew and achieve the participation and contribution of crew members
• Play a full part in rig safety meetings
• Conduct safety inspections of rig equipment and hold training drills as directed by OIM
• Contribute to New Employee Safety Inductions
• Ensure that all activities, including those of third party contractors, are conducted using safe working practices and using the designated Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)

Responsibilities:
• Personally responsible for own safety and conducting one’s self in alignment with Atlantica’s IMS standards
• Responsible for ensuring Management is informed of validity of all vessel compliance and certifications
• required by Regulatory Authorities, Flag States and Local Government including Radio Installations, Hull
• Certifications, Pollution Prevention Equipment, Manuals and required documents.
• Responsible for maintaining the rig systems drawings, Station Bills, Operating Manuals, Stability Programs and Marine Files to comply with #1 above.
• Responsible for overall seaworthiness of the vessel and soundness of the structure
• Ensuring modifications are done in a professional manner, consistent with statutory rules, recorded, and approved by Management and relevant Regulatory Authorities, including the recording of weights for maintenance of vessel stability and load line requirements.
• Responsible for Organization and Housekeeping of main deck areas, including the loading, storage and monitoring of rig consumables, drill pipe, casing, bulk fluids, bulk chemicals and various items
• Responsible for the supervision of Crane Operators, Roustabouts and paint crews
• Responsible to assist in the maintenance of all Marine Fire and Safety systems on board the vessel
• Including, but not limited to: Lifeboats & Life-rafts, Fire Systems, Lifesaving Appliances, Confined Space
• Entry, Gas Detection, Fire/Boat/Gas Drills, Radio equipment and mechanical/electrical compliance with regulatory requirements and the permit to work program.
• Responsible for the planning, preparations, logistics, equipment checks and operation of Jacking Panel during rig moves.
• In the absence of a Move Master, will be responsible for positioning of rig
• Responsible for the assisting in the planning, organization, logistics and execution of hull preventative maintenance program, including steel replacement, tank maintenance and protective coating program
• In the event of a forced abandonment, to ensure all Personnel are accounted for and to conduct a safe and efficient abandonment
• Ensure understanding of, and compliance with, Atlantica’s SWIM (Safe Work Integrity Management) work place controls i.e. JHA, PTW, Energy Isolation etc.
• Ensures the proper documentation of the distribution of bulk and cargo loaded from supply boats, as well as loading and back loading from supply vessels
• Ensures the performance and documentation of daily weight calculations of deck loads and tank contents to verify stability and ballast operations.
• Records all ballast and de-ballast operations as they are carried out.
• Assists with planning of rig moves and anchor handling operations and oversees recording of all aspects of the move.
• Assists in managing and tracking maintenance of the hull, superstructure and marine equipment
• Ensures that the required entries in the marine logs are made
• Responsible for providing day-to-day training as required of national personnel.

Secondary Job Functions:
• Assists the OIM in any emergency
• Assesses reports and coordinates actions to minimize and control damage. Participates in meetings and drills as a member of an emergency team.
• Assists in maintaining the legislative library
• Makes recommendations for continuous improvement to the Integrity Management System (IMS)
• Performs all duties in accordance with the Permit to Work System

Requirements

Education:
• High school diploma or equivalent Work experience and demonstrated ability of oral and written communications may be substituted in lieu of formal education

Professional Experience:
• Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience with marine systems operation and maintenance
• Must also have a minimum of one year experience as a Barge Supervisor with another drilling contractor on a deepwater vessel or a minimum of 18 months as a Ballast Control Operator with Atlantica
• Must be able to work without constant supervision Licenses, Certifications, Credentials, Training and other Requirements:
• Offshore survival and medical certificates as mandated by government/client regulations are required.
• Valid Barge Supervisor license.
• Training as required for position as per Atlantica’s Training Matrix.
• Must pass pre-employment screening as well as random drug tests, as applicable per local laws
• Minimum Competencies Required for Hiring
• Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience with marine systems operation and maintenance
• Must also have a minimum of one year experience as a Barge Supervisor with another drilling contractor on a deepwater vessel or a minimum of 18 months as an Assistant Barge Supervisor with Atlantica
• Must have a valid Barge Supervisor license
• Must have a GMDSS Radio Operator’s license or equivalent certification for the governing jurisdiction where assigned.
• Must have advanced crane operations knowledge.
