Employment: Full Time

Business Studies Teacher (ALK)

- Delivery of Business qualification in one or more of the following specialisms: Small Business Management, Accounting, Sales and Guest Relations Management
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of developments in the relevant subject/course
- To contribute to curriculum and resource development including assessment projects, schemes of work, lesson plans, assessment rubrics and teaching and learning material
- Participate in Quality Assurance practices, including Internal Verification and course file audits in preparation for external verification and inspection visits
- Ensure that teaching meets the needs of all students, including the effective management of behavior
- To create a positive teaching and learning environment, which fosters a culture of experiential learning and creativity to best prepare trainees for employment
- To be responsible for assessing, recording and reporting on student development and progress, including GPA scores
- Give timely feedback on student work to allow students to make improvements in line with individual targets
- Identify students who are underachieving in the subject, apply early intervention for students at risk, create plans of action with target setting at key points in the year, support trainees in developing and maintaining Individual Learning Plans
- To monitor student attendance and achievement, taking appropriate action as required
- To liaise with parents/guardians to report on trainee progress
- To undertake tutorial/pastoral and student support related duties, including the delivery of Work Skills and Employability
- To foster employment skills and promote employability throughout the curriculum
- To provide advice, information and guidance on progression into subject specialism, career options and employment
- To contribute to the course and team planning review processes and attend regular team meetings for curriculum review and development
- To keep up to date with the appropriate Health & Safety information/requirements
- To complete Health and Safety risk assessments for onsite assessment days and off-site educational visits
- Work closely with colleagues within the Faculty and across college to respond to the needs of students
- Attend and contribute to relevant college meetings including enrollment, open days, and awards evenings
- Participate in continuous professional development opportunities with the view to improve teaching practice

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or closely related area from a recognized University
- Specialism in one or more of the following areas: Business Enterprise, Sales, Accounting and Finance
- Minimum three years vocational/higher educational level teaching experience - post qualifying, in the Further Education or Adult Education field
- Industry experience in related field an advantage
- Recognized teacher qualification
- Experience of internal verification or Assessor Award
- IELTS 6.5 Academic for non-native English speakers only
- Evidence of innovative curriculum development and delivery
- Excellent ICT skills in Microsoft Office
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in written and oral form in English
- Ability to track and monitor student progress through project work
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Student focused and able to demonstrate effective classroom management skills
- Approachable and trainee focused
- Ability to create exciting and innovative learning resources
- Ability to review and implement effective programmes of study in line with the examination specification Requirements
- Ability to contribute to the development of teaching and learning materials across the college
- In depth knowledge and understanding of good assessment practice
- Commitment to continuing professional development
- Proven ability to work in a culturally diverse context
- Preferably native from UK, US, Canada or Australia
- Prior work experience in Saudi Arabia or the GCC is an advantage
