Overview

We are seeking a Clastic Sedimentologist to join Geological Operations Department.
Geological Operations Department provides efficient operational support and specialized Geological solutions for Exploration and Development programs through a skilled and qualified workforce applying appropriate technologies, innovation and excellence in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
Saudi Aramco is embarking on a program to develop its world-class resources and is seeking a professional Sedimentary Geologist with a broad knowledge, skill and experience in clastic sedimentology, sequence stratigraphy and petrography to work on different types of samples (core, cuttings, outcrop, etc) and interpret data to assess reservoir architectures and quality. Experience with analyzing cores and petrographic slides samples, along with more advanced techniques such as SEM, XRD etc. to provide analysis of well data in terms of facies, sedimentary architecture, isopach, depositional environment and rock properties. Siliciclastic Sedimentologist will be able to assess and integrate multiscale (outcrop, cores, thin-sections) and multidisciplinary (sedimentology, biostratigraphy, chemostratigraphy, etc) datasets to support exploration and development activities. An ability and willingness to mentor co-workers and young professionals in applying sedimentology and stratigraphy to wider geological understanding. The successful candidate should also be familiar with petrophysics, sequence stratigraphy, biostratigraphy, chemostratigraphy and structural geology, have knowledge of wireline logs, conventional and special core analysis practices. Duties & Responsibilities

You will be required to perform the following:
- Conduct advanced sedimentological studies including core descriptions, petrography, diagenesis and reservoir quality in order to support long-term and short-term Saudi Aramco operations
- Provide rapid sedimentological support to ongoing drilling operations
- prepare advanced technical reports in multiple formats, and deliver digital sedimentologic products including reports, core descriptions, cross-sections, GDE maps, block diagrams, and conceptual model
- Provide training and mentorships to co-workers and young professionals, and communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues in the group and beyond

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

As the successful candidate you will
- Hold a minimum of Bachelor Degree in Geology.
- An advanced degree in Siliciclastic Sedimentology / Sedimentary Geology is preferred.
- Fifteen years of experience in siliciclastic sedimentology and stratigraphy, preferably in the oil industry is required.
- Proven track record in relevant discipline as evidenced by previous work such as publications in the peer-reviewed scientific literature/conferences, etc.
- A prior experience in detailed description and interpretation of siliciclastic successions
- An excellent background in recognizing and interpreting sediments of different depositional settings including eolian, fluvial, marginal marine, shallow marine and glaciogenic settings
- Familiar with the principles and applications of the techniques of petrology (e.g. thin sections, SEM and XRD) to siliciclastic successions,
- A prior experience in training and mentoring co-workers and young professionals
- Well-developed soft skills (e.g. interpersonal skills, presentation skills, team work etc.) are essential.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
