Construction manager

WSP is delivering project management consultancy (PMC) services for one of Riyadh's most prestigious and transformative urban development initiatives. The program includes extensive public realm enhancement, infrastructure works, sports and leisure facilities, and mixed-use developments designed to create a vibrant, sustainable, and connected environment aligned with Saudi Vision 2030.

The construction manager will be responsible for overseeing all site-based construction activities, ensuring the works are executed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and quality standards. The role requires strong leadership, coordination, and technical skills to manage contractors, consultants, and stakeholders while ensuring safety, cost, and schedule compliance.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day construction operations across assigned project areas, ensuring work progress aligns with the master schedule.
• Supervise and monitor contractors' performance to ensure compliance with design, quality, and HSE requirements.
• Review and verify construction plans, shop drawings, and method statements.
• Coordinate between multidisciplinary teams - including design, supervision, and procurement - to resolve technical issues.
• Lead progress meetings and prepare reports on construction status, risks, and mitigation strategies.
• Ensure timely inspection and approval of completed works.
• Monitor site safety and environmental compliance, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
• Provide input on change requests, variation orders, and claims assessments.
• Support the project director and construction director in managing project interfaces and stakeholder expectations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 12-15 years of experience, with at least 5 years in a similar role on large-scale infrastructure or mixed-use developments.
• Proven experience working within a PMC or international consultancy environment.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, logistics, and site coordination.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple contractors and complex site activities.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of Saudi construction standards and local authority procedures preferred.
