As the Construction Manager within our Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team, you will be the driving force behind the physical execution of a world-scale petrochemical facility. You will represent the Client’s interests on-site, providing high-level leadership and oversight of the EPC Contractor to ensure construction is completed safely, on schedule, and in strict accordance with technical specifications. Your focus will be on driving productivity, resolving field bottlenecks, and ensuring a seamless transition from bulk construction to mechanical completion and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
• Execution Oversight: Manage and monitor the EPC Contractor’s site activities across all disciplines (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, and Instrumentation).
• Schedule & Productivity: Review and validate the contractor’s 90-day and 3-week look-ahead schedules, identifying potential delays and ensuring recovery plans are implemented effectively.
• Site Logistics & SIMOPS: Oversee site logistics, including heavy lift operations, modular deliveries, and the management of Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS) in a high-density work environment.
• Quality & Compliance: Partner with the QA/QC team to ensure that all construction work meets the "Right First Time" philosophy and adheres to project IFC (Issued for Construction) drawings.
• Contract Administration: Validate contractor progress for monthly payment certificates and provide technical input on field change notices and site instructions.
• Safety Leadership: Champion a "Zero Harm" site culture, ensuring the EPC contractor maintains the highest standards of housekeeping and hazard mitigation.
Requirements:
• Education: Accredited Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
• Experience: 15–20 years of experience in heavy industrial construction, with at least 10 years in a management role on large-scale petrochemical or refinery projects.
• Proven Track Record: Experience managing multi-thousand-person workforces and diverse subcontractor tiers in a PMC capacity.
• Field Expertise: Deep knowledge of modular construction techniques, heavy lift planning, and petrochemical site infrastructure.
• Preferred Qualifications
• Extensive experience with Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) and WorkFace Planning (WFP) methodologies.
• Strong conflict-resolution skills and the ability to manage complex interfaces between engineering, procurement, and site execution.
• Fluency in project management software (Primavera P6) for the purpose of progress verification.
