Job Description & Summary
PwC has been providing professional services to energy companies for more than 100 years. Our global practice is comprised of more than 3,000 people who serve only energy, power and mining clients and receive extensive training to support this industry focus.

The changing nature and timing of power demand (driven by energy efficiency and distributed generation, alongside regulatory and policy pressure) and the reduction in subsidies (driven by reduced public budgets and the sustained low oil price) are undermining the traditional, publicly-owned utility model and driving the need for a fundamental business transformation in utility space.

We blend a unique mix of industry expertise to help our clients, integrating colleagues with engineering, policy, strategy, business transformation and technology development backgrounds to ensure efficient, sustainable and strategic solutions. Whilst working in our power and utilities team, you will work collaboratively with other utility industries experts to shape our clients' future and realise positive change. You will also develop your understanding of the key trends in the market and in the region.

Responsibilities:

You will undertake client delivery work across the Middle East, including strategic transformation, operational improvement, quality improvement and cost reduction projects.  Specifically, we would expect you to:

- Write and present winning proposals to support our clients in the Middle East
- Lead end-to-end consulting engagements in the power and utility industry, primarily focusing on strategic improvements that are ahead of the broader industry curves
- Lead cross functional internal and client teams to develop and deliver end-to-end strategies in Power and Utility sector, with a particular emphasis on implementation
- Undertake rigorous strategic analysis that leads to the development and implementation of strategic recommendations and/or viable strategic options for our clients
- Develop yourself personally, taking a keen interest in regional and global trends in current technologies in utilities so you can help shape our clients' thinking and thus our success in the market
- Work with colleagues from across our Middle Eastern offices on client work and internal initiatives, as well as with international teams where appropriate; and,
- Mentor and train other members of the business unit and the project team in order to foster and maintain our high performance, result oriented team environment.

Requirements

Requirements:

You should have a thorough understanding of utility industry and regulatory landscape, ideally with direct experience of working on strategic decisions for a utility business. You will therefore have strong experience in conducting strategic analysis, supporting policy development and a good understanding of current market trends including use of digital, analytic and information management in the utility industry. You will be familiar with strategies across supply chain and procurement optimization, process improvement, operational excellence, business process re-engineering, operational due diligence and post-merger integration. You will have experience working with a utility company or a reputed management consulting firm for around 10 years.

- You will be flexible and adaptive on a daily basis, able to work independently and as part of a team with a fast pace that translates into high quality outputs.
- You will hold at least a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in relevant subject areas such as Economics, business or engineering
- You may hold (and use) professional certifications such as PMP, Prince 2 or LSS.
- You will have experience with the development and implementation of strategies and operating models in utilities, including experience in partnering with the business at all levels and building the necessary internal and external relationships to secure change across the value chain from generation, through transmission and distribution to the retail / customer experience front end
- Ideally, you will also have had exposure to the wider energy / water value chains (including oil and gas, power generation, desalination etc.), to enable you to add context to your relationships
- You will have excellent written and oral communication skills, be fluent in English and proficient in Arabic
- You will have strong quantitative, strategic and financial analytical skills with the ability to understand complex information and communicate it in a non-specialist format to our clients' operational business units
- You will have experience of managing, guiding and developing junior team members
- You will have excellent organisational skills, including the ability to triage and prioritise work whilst being resilient, able to cope well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- You must be willing and able to travel within the Middle East and worldwide as our projects dictate
