Job description / Role

• Develop and review domain-specific technology strategy within fixed and mobile Core
• Develop initiatives and plans for implementation of the core domain strategy
• Ensure core domain strategy conforms to corporate level strategy and overarching technology strategy
• Manage competitive intelligence gathering process
• Conduct research and analysis on external factors influencing core domain strategy
• Conduct research and analysis of internal factors (resources & capabilities) influencing core domain strategy
• Consider Technology Strategy requirements and objectives and consult Technology Strategy team with core-specific requirements and objectives
• Support the technology innovation process within core and align with sectors on emerging technologies, trends and key innovation topics
• Support the mapping and monitoring of technologies underlying business capabilities, as well as emerging new uses and standards
• Establish a technology strategic planning and roadmap as to how the company shall face the technology renewal of fixed and mobile core networks in the medium to long term with specific focus on NGN, PSTN migration, Signalling Networks (STPs), Interconnection (National and International), SS7 threats and fraud prevention, mobile CS, EPC and IMS VoLTE & VoWiFi technologies
• Deliver Strategic plan for introducing VoLTE and VoWiFi services within Voice Core NW
• Deliver roadmap to transform network legacy Voice Core NW functions into Virtualized Network Functions, i.e. VNF Roadmap
• Verifying new telecom technology trends and analyzing how the company could benefit from them
• Manage the alignment with the business units including consumer and enterprise
• Manage and develop medium to long terms strategic roadmap plans across mobile and fixed core network products and define investment plans for both CAPEX & OPEX
• Establish a technology strategic planning and roadmap as to how the company shall face the technology renewal of fixed and mobile core networks in the medium to long term with specific focus on NGN, PSTN migration, Signaling Networks (STPs), Interconnection (National and International), SS7 threats and fraud prevention, mobile CS, IMS VoLTE and VoWiFi technologies
• Translate medium and long-term architecture blueprint into yearly strategic plans and objectives to facilitate network expansion or migration
• Develop Voice and Packet Core NW Evolution Strategy Towards 5G Core Network
• Develop core network business cases
• Prepare the evolution strategy towards NFV and 5G

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunication Engineering or Information Technology, Master’s degree in Telecommunication Engineering or Information Technology (preferred)
• Min 10 years of experience in telecommunications sector and technologies, 5 years of experience with developing strategic plans
• Experience with roadmap and strategic plan preparation of mobile and fixed core networks (IMS, FMC and Charging Convergence)
• Experience with preparation of budget forecast for CAPEX and OPEX for fixed and mobile core networks projects
• Experience with RFP & RFQ preparation, proposals evaluation, prices negotiation, vendor selection and BoQs handling
• Expert knowledge and deep technical expertise of Mobile and fixed Core Networks
• Strong understanding of fixed and mobile core network infrastructure and technologies and architectures
• Expert knowledge in the strategy development and business planning processes
• Expert knowledge of telecommunications product & services portfolio
• Expert in developing business cases
• In depth knowledge and practice of project management processes according to PMI/Prince standard
• Solid and deep technical experience on all planning aspects of ETSI NFV architecture.
• Good technical experience on all planning aspects of SDN architecture.
• Solid and deep technical experience on all planning aspects of 2G/3G and 4G core networks
• Solid and deep technical experience on all planning and design aspects for Mobile and fixed core network nodes and structure (Fixed Softswitchs, IP MSAN, SMSC-S, USSD GW, SBC, MSC-S, MGW, UDC(HLR/HSS), FNR, STP, EPC( SGSN/MME, GGSN/S-PGW), IMS, VoLTE, VoWiFi, switches, Routers)
• Experience with IMS platforms (CSCF,TAS …)
• Excellent knowledge of signaling protocols (CAP/INAP, ISUP, RANAP, BSSAP, CAP&MAP, BICC, GCP, SIP...)
• Well-versed knowledge of LAN/WAN networking protocols (TCP/IP, RSTP, RIP, OSPF…)
• In depth knowledge of VoIP networking and protocols (RTP, SIP, H.248, MGCP, H.323)
• Solid experience with a multivendor network environment (Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia Vmware, Cisco, Juniper, Redhat, Dell…)
• Deep knowledge in the application of 3GPP standards to architecture and design
• Strong knowledge of new technology trends and excellent capacity for choosing the most effective solutions for core networks
• Interpersonal skills - Task oriented and self-driven. Excellent Team Spirit and co-operative. Good communication and presentation skills. Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment with very tight deadlines.
