Employment: Full Time

My client a large developer in Saudi Arabia has an urgent requirement for a Curator to support, foster and engage the creative, arts and crafts communities in Riyadh.

Roles and Responsibilities:

* Provide input during the development of the section's strategy, goals, initiatives, and plans, and monitor their execution.
* Manage day-to-day activities and operations, recommend potential improvements, and ensure proper documentation and implementation of all policies and procedures.
* Assist in the development of the annual budget, including all financial and human resources requirements for the section.
* Monitor the operational performance of the section, compare them to the established objectives and goals and report results accordingly.
* Provide coaching, guidance, and support to employees in the execution of their work and ensure proper knowledge transfer to develop them and improve their performance.
* Oversee the listing and cataloguing of all artwork and items in collections, including researching objects for the purposes of identification and authentication.
* Responsible for the acquisition of new collection items by conducting appropriate research, managing artifacts.
* Lead and conceptualize, plan, and install exhibitions.
* Publish research and information to journals, catalogues, and books in coordination with the Research & Interpretation Department.
* Maintain updated knowledge of the art and culture market and in-depth knowledge of their collections and exhibitions.
* Build and manage educational programs.
* Develop relationships with collectors, artists, artisans, scholars and others in the art and culture market.
* Develop, negotiate, and monitor contracts.
* Conceive, initiate, and manage arts and culture projects and programs that activate, celebrate and foster different aspects of Diriyah and the region's cultural heritage.
* Manage budgets and schedules accordingly.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

* Bachelor's Degree in Art History Studies or relevant.
* Master's Degree preferred.
* A minimum of 8 years of experience in the Art & Culture industry with 4 years of experience in a managerial role.
* Experience in a national cultural institution or creative sector organization.
* Ability to balance the space between stakeholder expectations, societal norms, and artistic integrity.
* Experience working with a diverse group of cultural practitioners and artists (in the broadest sense).
* Sensitivity to the tone and nuance of Saudi culture.
* Ability to create programs that engage the public with cultural practices.
