Our client, a leading general contracting firm with regional MENA operations, seeks to appoint a Director for Internal Audit to lead the corporate audit requirements of their firm. This newly created role focuses on the evaluation of accounting, financial, credit and operational activities from an independent appraisal function for the group and evaluation of risk management, financial management and governance systems. Concurrently this role is a key member of the executive team that is also driving structural and cultural change. The firm is seeking to reposition its capabilities and resources to that of a “world standard” hence change management is pivotal to executing this audit position. The firm employs 14,000 staff across the MENA region. The focus of this role is to manage and streamline the internal audit process to ensure transparency and encourage greater efficiencies. The project scope of projects is infrastructure, civil and building projects valued up to USD10B.

Reporting to the Board and CEO, the experience professional we seek comprises the following:
- Evaluate and provide assurance that risk management, control and governance systems are functioning to a world standard and will enable the firm’s objectives and goals to be met.
- Review and refine the Internal Audit Management Framework, Methods and Best Practices integrated with the firm’s Strategic methodology.
- Leadership and management of an Internal Audit team, both internal and external to the firm.
- Report on risk management issues and internal controls deficiencies identified directly to the audit committee and provide recommendations for improving the organisation's operations, in terms of both efficient and effective performance.
- Plan and execute financial and operational audits including due diligence reviews.
- Evaluate information security and associated risk exposures.
- Evaluate regulatory compliance program with consultation with the Executive Team.
- Evaluate the organisation's readiness in case of business interruption.
- Maintain open communication with management and the audit committee.
- Engage in continuous education and staff development.
- Provides support to the company's anti-fraud programs including investigations.

Requirements

- Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance and/or Commerce as well as an MBA is essential for this pivotal group role. CA, CPA or ACCA status is required preferably with Certified IA (Institute of Internal Auditors).
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a senior audit position with a Top Accounting Firm or equitable experience within a Multi-National Company is essential. If within a MNC environment, the candidate must possess at least five years’ experience in an Internal Audit supervisory /managerial role.
- At least 2 years’ experience in the GCC markets would be highly regarded.
- Sound Technical knowledge of Accounting and Financial Management.
- Strong Report-writing and Presentation Skills.
- Well versed with various Computer programs and Accounting software.
- The ability to work across various levels of management and within a multi-cultural environment is essential.
- The exceptional communicator must have superior commercial acumen and display high levels of professionalism.
- Strong language skills in English with Arabic (written and verbal) abilities being highly regarded.
