Job description / Role
The role of the driver Operator is to report to the Captain and safely drive fire and rescue vehicles to and from fires or other emergencies. Be proficient in operating pumps, aerial devices, power, and other mechanical equipment as required, and keep inventory of tools, and equipment on apparatus. Clean and service assigned apparatus, maintain it in a condition of readiness and report mechanical failures or difficulties and missing or damaged equipment to the proper authority.
Job Responsibilities:
• Report to the Captain and assist as required in operational and administrative efficiency of the fire and rescue service on station
• Be proficient in operating pumps, aerial devices, power and other mechanical equipment as required
• Possess a thorough knowledge of the mechanical principles involved in the operation of fire and rescue apparatus and associated equipment
• Demonstrate considerable knowledge of fire service hydraulics and the operation of water distribution systems.
• Keep inventory of tools, and equipment on appliances
• Report mechanical failures or difficulties and missing or damaged equipment
• Responsibility for updating and maintaining all records pertaining to their duties
• Clean and service assigned apparatus, maintaining it in a condition of readiness
• Attend training courses when required
• Perform general firefighting duties as assigned
• Responsibility for the implementation of RSFRS and RSG policy and procedures
• Be flexible with regard to working in varied locations as directed by RSFRS management
• Carrying out such other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements:
• Minimum Age 21
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience (some of which should be in a municipal setting) as a Firefighter plus 2 years’ experience as a driver (Saudi Nationals)
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience (some of which should be in a municipal setting) as a Firefighter with 2 years’ experience as a driver (ex-pats)
• Saudi Arabia Heavy Duty Driving License
• NFPA or RSFRS Approved Equivalent
• Firefighter 1 and 2 NFPA 1001
• Apparatus Driver NFPA 1002
• Technical Rescue 1006)
• Hazmat Operational / Technician NFPA 1072
• First Aid
