Construction
As a Senior Electrical Engineer within our Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team, you will serve as the technical authority overseeing the power systems design and execution for a world-scale petrochemical complex. You will be responsible for ensuring the EPC contractor delivers a robust, reliable, and safe electrical infrastructure that complies with project specifications and international regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Technical Oversight: Review and approve electrical design deliverables, including Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), electrical layouts, protection coordination studies, and load schedules.
• Power Systems Analysis: Validate contractor-performed studies such as short-circuit, load flow, motor starting, and arc flash analysis to ensure system stability.
• Equipment Management: Provide PMC-level surveillance for the procurement and fabrication of long-lead items, including HV/MV switchgear, power transformers, UPS systems, and Variable Speed Drives (VSDs).
• Safety & Compliance: Ensure all electrical installations meet Hazardous Area Classifications (ATEX/IECEx) and adhere to stringent corporate and international safety protocols.
• Site & Commissioning Support: Oversee site electrical activities, including cable tray installation, grounding systems, and the functional testing/pre-commissioning of electrical substations.
• Interdisciplinary Coordination: Collaborate with Process and Instrumentation teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical power with plant control systems and mechanical packages.
Requirements:
• Education: Accredited Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience: 10–15 years of electrical engineering experience in the petrochemical, refining, or heavy industrial sectors, with specific experience in a PMC or Client Oversight role.
• Technical Proficiency: Mastery of electrical modeling software such as ETAP or SKM PowerTools.
• Standards Knowledge: Thorough understanding of IEEE, NFPA 70 (NEC), and IEC standards as they apply to large-scale industrial facilities.
• Preferred Qualifications
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent chartered status.
• Experience managing HV/EHV grid interconnections and large-scale power distribution networks.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex EPC interfaces and drive schedule performance without compromising quality.
