• Real estate development
• Façade cladding, glazing systems, and architectural aluminum products
• Precast concrete products and architectural elements

Job Purpose

To lead the shop drawings, coordination, material selection, and approval process for electrical work from start to finish, ensuring that all designs meet client requirements, are safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing, overseeing the development of detailed construction plans.

Key Accountability Areas

• Drafting and Development: Draft electrical systems and components using Revit and specialized design tools. Develop detailed drawings, schematics, and specifications.
• Electrical Systems Design: Familiar with the electrical systems for buildings including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, security, and control systems.
• Compliance and Regulation: Ensure compliance with relevant electrical codes, standards, and regulations, such as the National Electrical Code (NEC), International Building Code (IBC), and local building and safety codes.
• Collaboration: Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, contractors, and clients, to coordinate electrical design activities.
• Load Calculations and Analysis: Conduct load calculations and electrical system analysis to ensure proper sizing and performance of electrical equipment and systems, considering factors such as voltage drop, short-circuit currents, and fault protection.
• Quality Control: Review and verify the accuracy of electrical drawings to ensure they meet project requirements and adhere to quality standards.
• Problem-solving: Identify and resolve technical issues or discrepancies in electrical designs, working closely with the engineering team as needed.
• Construction Support: Provide support during the construction phase by responding to requests for information (RFIs), clarifying design intent, and reviewing submittals and shop drawings.
• Communication: Effectively communicate with internal teams and external vendors to convey technical information and address any concerns related to electrical drawings.
• Project Coordination: Assist in project coordination by providing timely updates on the status of electrical drawings and collaborating with other team members to meet project deadlines.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and emerging technologies in electrical design. Seek opportunities to improve design processes, efficiency, and effectiveness.

Role Accountability

• System Layout and Configuration: Accountable for laying out electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, communication, and control systems.
• Detailing and Annotation: Ensuring that drawings are properly annotated with dimensions, notes, and symbols is crucial.
• Creating Shop Drawings: Create/Review accurate and detailed drawings, including schematics, circuit diagrams, and wiring diagrams using software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Etap, and other specialized tools.
• Component Selection and Specification: Research, evaluate, and select electrical components, equipment, and materials based on project requirements, performance criteria, and cost considerations through the procurement team.
• Documentation and Reporting: Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and engineering drawings to communicate design specifications, procedures, and findings.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that electrical designs comply with relevant industry standards, building codes, safety regulations, and certification requirements.
• Quality Assurance and Review: Electrical engineers are accountable for conducting quality assurance reviews of their designs to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
• Client Communication and Support: Provide technical expertise and support to clients, contractors, and internal teams throughout the design, implementation, and maintenance phases of projects.
• Drafting Electrical Plans: Create/Review detailed electrical drawings, plans, and diagrams using computer-aided design (Revit) software. This involves accurately representing the layout of electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, outlets, switches, and other components.
• Interpreting Specifications: Review technical specifications and design documents to understand project requirements and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.
• Ensuring Accuracy: Check drawings for accuracy and completeness, including dimensions, labels, and symbols. Identify and correct errors or discrepancies in drawings to maintain quality standards.
• Updating Drawings: Revise and update electrical drawings as needed to reflect changes in design and specifications.
• Maintaining Documentation: Organize and maintain a library of electrical drawings, documents, and related project files.
• Adhering to Safety Standards: Ensure that electrical drawings comply with relevant safety regulations and building codes.
• Meeting Deadlines: Work efficiently to meet project deadlines and milestones, managing workload effectively, and communicating any potential delays or challenges to project managers.

Academic Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or any relevant field.

Work Experience

6 to 10 years.
