Overview of the Role
The Sr. ELV Engineer is a pivotal role focused on the design, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of Extra Low Voltage systems to meet project specifications and client/operator requirements. The position requires extensive coordination with consultants, main contractors, and suppliers to deliver integrated ELV solutions within project timelines and budgetary constraints. Success in this role involves proactive management of quality, health, safety, environment, and asset management while fostering professional relationships to support ELV system integration.
What You Will Do
Design and Planning- Review and understand project specs, IFC drawings, and requirements for ELV systems.
- Prepare detailed ELV system design drawings, schematics, and layouts for systems such as CCTV, access control, BMS, fire alarm, public address, SMATV/IPTV, PABX, data and Wi-Fi system, structured cabling, GRMS, and parking management system.
- Ensure designs comply with international standards (NFPA, BS, IEC, TIA/EIA, etc.) and local authority regulations.
- Establish relationships with clients, consultants, vendors, suppliers, and other professionals to expand networks.
- Participate in design coordination meetings with other systems of MEP and architectural teams.
- Prepare material submittals, technical data sheets, and shop drawings for consultant/operator review and approval in close coordination with them.
- Supervise the installation, termination, testing, and commissioning of all ELV systems at site, ensuring correct installation procedures are followed according to approved shop drawings and manufacturer recommendations.
- Monitor subcontractor performance to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and within quality standards.
- Verify cable routes, conduits layouts, and system integration points are accurately implemented.
- Conduct system testing, programming, and commissioning in coordination with suppliers and manufacturers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during system integration.
- Prepare final testing and commissioning reports and documentation for client handover.
- Control the quality and technical correctness of the installation in accordance with the project quality assurance plan.
- Be accountable for determining, implementing, and continuous monitoring of QHSE and asset management system aspects in activities and areas of work.
- Report all QHSE and asset management incidents immediately and take necessary precautions to avoid recurrence.
- Support procurement by preparing Bill of Quantity (BOQ) and material take-offs.
- Maintain accurate records of drawings, material submittals, RFIs, and as-built documents.
- Assist in preparing O&M manuals, training schedules, and system operation documents for client handover.
- Allocate the workforce to areas of the site based on the program, nature of the works, and the skills required.
- Set targets and monitor the productivity of the workforce at site.
- Arrange skills development and training for the foremen and site workforce.
Required Skills to Be Successful
- Design and review skills for ELV systems such as fire alarm system, CCTV, access control, and others.
- Ability to prepare system design drawings, integration plans, and calculations.
- Proficient understanding of international standards and compliance requirements.
- Strong leadership and coordination skills to manage teams and liaise with external partners.
What Qualifies You for the Role
- Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical, Electronics, Communication Engineering or equivalent.
- 7-12 years of experience in MEP.
- Proficient in soft skills such as MS Office, AutoCAD, ELV integration, and protocols (TCP/IP, Modbus, BACnet, etc.).
- Preferred certifications include BICSI, KNX, or manufacturer certifications (Honeywell, Siemens, Bosch, etc.).
