Engineer, QA/QC Mechanical

Job description / Role

Job purpose

This position exists to perform product quality control and quality assurance activities efficiently, in a timely manner and quality standards as per the defined policies and procedures to achieve departmental operational plans and developments.

Key accountability areas

Project quality plan & Alfanar quality management system

1. Implementation and maintenance of project quality management system requirements in accordance with project quality plan and procedures.
2. QMS implementation, project quality inspection, quality related activities and its coordination to client, consultant, and vendors inspections.
3. Maintain system manuals, international and national standards, client specifications, technical data sheets and handbooks, product range and component catalogues, copy of ITP and all relevant documents related to inspections.
4. Verify and assure accreditation, certifications, approvals and accolades along with profiles of vendors, external, third party or independent agencies.
5. Maintain quality records such as logbook of the work performed, QA/QC weekly report, internal inspection report, non-conformance report (NCR).
6. Preparation of quality related documents like ITP, MOS, checklist PQI, QA/QC weekly report.
7. Implementation of Alfanar lesson learnt program. The impact reduces many punch points that must appear during handover of the project.
8. Ensure and act for customer satisfaction.

Monitoring & inspections

1. Ensure that works are carried out as per PTS, IFC drawing and approved method statement.
2. Ensure that work is correctly prepared prior to any inspection.
3. Confirm that the works are properly inspected at the required stages as stated in ITP or as required by client.
4. Ensure that all material and equipment to be purchased and incorporated into the permanent installation of project are in compliance with the contract, plan, PTS and standard.
5. Ensure that required tests are performed and verify their compliance against requirements.
6. Site installation inspection, material receiving inspection and report to the concerned authority. Control and monitoring inspection and test requirements and data with respect to project PTS.
7. Assure the maintenance and calibration of inspection testing equipment.
8. Carry out inspections and testing as per plan.
9. Preparation of checklists and RFIs of all work for consultant approval and inspections.

Coordination

1. Coordinate with execution team, project management, client and consultant to deal with QC related matters.
2. Coordinate with independent testing laboratory for material testing, follow up for test reports and submit to consultant.
3. Quality reporting to TQM department.

Site QA/QC reporting

4. Report quality related matters to project manager for taking necessary action and report to TQM manager for information.
5. Obtain and verify the quality records and maintain them in a traceable, easily retrievable and safe manner. Also maintain proper log for the QC documents.
6. Verification of test results, reporting and recommendation to project manager for necessary actions.

• Utilize resources effectively to achieve objectives within efficient cost and time.
• Provide a periodic report detailing deviations and execution of planned tasks.

• Resolve any related problems that arise and escalate any complex operational issues.

Quality:

• Ensure quality requirements to develop effective quality control and processes including specifications for products, processes or related activities.

Business process improvement (effectiveness):

• Coordinate well-defined written systems, policies, procedures, and seek automation opportunities as much as possible.

Compliance:

• Comply with related policies, procedures and work instructions.

Health & safety:

• Ensure compliance of relevant safety, quality, and environmental management procedures and controls within defined area of work activity to guarantee safety, legislative compliance, and delivery of high-quality products and services.

Academic qualification

Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering
