Summary

We are looking for an experienced engineering manager to lead the opening of Hyatt Place AlUla. Hyatt Place AlUla represents a significant milestone in Hyatt's expansion across the region and will feature 214 guestrooms, two food and beverage outlets, meeting space, swimming pool, and a fitness center appealing to both leisure and business travelers.

Your role

As the engineering manager, you'll be responsible for overseeing all maintenance operations and ensuring the property remains safe, efficient, and in top condition. You will lead a small, hands-on team dedicated to delivering exceptional guest experiences through proactive facility management and prompt service.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the engineering department, ensuring all equipment, systems, and facilities operate safely and efficiently.
• Manage preventative maintenance programs for guest rooms, public spaces, mechanical systems, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety equipment.
• Respond promptly to guest and operational maintenance requests, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum satisfaction.
• Supervise and train maintenance technicians, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Maintain compliance with local codes, safety standards, and brand maintenance guidelines.
• Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and projects.
• Prepare and manage the department's budget, ensuring cost-effective operations and capital planning.
• Support sustainability initiatives and ensure energy conservation practices are implemented.
• Partner with the general manager and department heads to ensure seamless operations across the property.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a hotel engineering or facilities management role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life safety systems.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage projects, budgets, and teams effectively.
• Technical certifications or trade licenses preferred.
• Availability to respond to emergencies and participate in an on-call rotation.

About the Company

Hyatt was founded by Jay Pritzker in 1957 when he purchased the Hyatt House motel adjacent to the Los Angeles International Airport. Over the following decade, Jay Pritzker and his brother, Donald Pritzker, working together with other Pritzker family business interests, grew the company into a North American management and hotel ownership company, which became a public company in 1962. In 1968, Hyatt International was formed and subsequently became a separate public company. Hyatt Corporation and Hyatt International Corporation were taken private by the Pritzker family business interests in 1979 and 1982, respectively.
