Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
This position is accountable for the following:
* Ensuring the project is operating in line with the Saudi Arabia environmental laws and regulations and all applicable Air Products & procedures
* Establish an audit strategy plan that demonstrates full compliance with all applicable environmental regulations and the ESIA
* Ensure all deliverables are completed within given time frame
* Assist during lender's Environmental & Social audits, develop action tracking register for any findings, and coordinate with respective Project Directors, Site & EHS Managers for completion of the actions
* Provide technical assistance on specific environmental matters (Marine scope, OTHL, etc.)
* Develop an environmental legal register (permit & consent matrix) and establish a systematic oversight program to assure compliance with all applicable environmental laws
* Ensuring Contractors environmental information is reviewed, and commented on as necessary prior to execution of works
* Develop an environmental management plan that details environmental monitoring in accordance with legal and project requirements
* Ensure management have provided adequate resources to execute against the environmental management plan
* Highlight deficiencies within general contractor programs and escalate as appropriate through the Project Directors, Head of EHS, and Site and EHS Managers
* Ensure the Project maintain proper waste manifests and duty of care documents
* Ensure the Project (AP / Contractor) disposes of all waste in a legal and responsible way via project approved waste treatment facilities
* Promote an environmental recycling program throughout all work areas
* When required and requested take part in contractor kick off meetings
* Develop and deliver environmental training as required
* Ensuring meetings are conducted and recorded as required (internal/external).
* Ensuring specific environmental risk assessments and method statements for all work activities are reviewed and commented on where necessary, prior to commencement of works
* Ensuring all early-works, construction & commissioning work practices are reviewed, and monitored for environmental implications as necessary
* Ensuring the Project (AP / Contractors) are directed in matters affecting emerging environmental risks
* Ensuring Environmental information/expertise is provided to the site team when solicited and when not to ensure compliance to all applicable standards (AP / Client) and local laws
* Support incident / accident investigations in line with the established site procedures for same and ensuring accurate content and corrective action follow up
* Ensure all incidents are entered into the AP proprietary incident tracking system, Event Management for environmental matters
* Recommending any necessary courses of action on contractor environmental performance to the Head of EHS and Project Directors/Managers
* Monitor the site safety induction program and ensure it is updated on environmental matters as the site evolves
* Demonstrating a strong leadership commitment throughout the project
* Actively participating in and leading EHS promotion events, competitions, established programs
* Play an active role on the EHS Leadership Team
* Undertaking environmental inspections and audits of construction work activities on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis in line with established systems in use on the project
* Create and distribute a monthly environmental audit report to deliver project status reports and help drive continuous improvement
* Develop and track leading and lagging environmental objectives and targets
* Leading and participating in meetings involving EHS issues/incidents
* Maintaining a strong and effective professional working relationship with the Site Management, Client, sub-EPC's, contractors, and other stakeholders
* Maintaining an open and effective communication channel with the Head of EHS
* When required or requested, represent Air Products in meetings with the Client, contractors, sub-EPC's and other stakeholders
* Assist the Head of EHS in ensuring the Project EHS Strategy, Elements EHS plans and Environmental plans are implemented
* Help in ensuring the EHS plan is updated on a regular basis in conjunction with the site management team
* Support the implementation of the EHS incentive program
* Give input to ensure the accurate completion of the relevant section of the weekly report
* Support the implementation and ongoing development of Air Products EHS program elements

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, or related discipline
* Environmental Diploma or equivalent
* Membership of IEMA or equivalent
* 10 years' experience on international mega-Projects working in an Environmental Leadership role
* Strong environmental management experience of large multi discipline sites during construction and commissioning phases
* Organised, disciplined, able to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities and parallel tasks
* Internationally recognised (IOSH / OSHA / Government Sponsored) environmental courses
* Fluent spoken and written English
* Thorough knowledge of international standards for management of Health, Safety, Environment and Risk such as OSHA, NFPA, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
* Good team player, good communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work in a multifaceted / multinational organizational matrix with a variety of working relationships
* Willingness to travel and be based in remote location

ADVANTAGES:

* Experience with IFC audits
