Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The School Leader will be responsible for running the school by academically and operationally leading the academic community, casting and developing the school’s vision, managing the school’s business and overseeing the implementation of the transformation plan recently developed by the school. The School Leader will also mentor a young Saudi lady to become the school’s future school leader.

Reporting:
- Reporting on the school’s day to day progress to the Board representative
- Reporting on the school’s transformation to the Executive Committee
- The school leader will work with an executive committee board member to communicate to parents and the regulator.

Overall Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide academic & operational leadership of the school to ensure high academic school performance and efficient & effective operations
- Lead the implementation of the recently developed transformation plan, evaluate and report progress of the transformation plan.
- Perform a variety of administrative duties involved in school operations, academic transformation, strategic planning, and quality assurance.

Daily activities/responsibilities include:
- Strategic leadership of the senior management;
- Strategic and day-to-day running of the three sections of school through the Senior Management Team, dealing with staff and pupils;
- The management of curriculum matters, through Academic Supervisors
- Recruit and manage high quality teachers and leaders by developing a plan to attract the best teachers in conjunction with management;
- Making sure that the academic and pastoral needs of all students, including those with special educational needs, are met by working with senior Academic and Student Affairs personnel to accurately determine students’ needs and ensure that effective programmes of support and guidance are implemented effectively;
- Leading school ethos through Speech Days, Assemblies, meetings of groups or individuals and letters;
- Overseeing student discipline by working with faculty and by building relationships with students;
- Evaluation of departmental work through analysis of a breadth of information and data;
- Monitoring student progress through exams, reports and the scrutiny of work.
- Forward planning to improve the management or facilities in the school, working through the School Committee and Executive Committee to ensure a programme of continuous improvement against agreed priorities.

Aims
- To improve the Student Learning & Outcomes (e.g. Build instructional leadership capacity, build teacher capacity, establish rigorous standards based assessment processes)
- To ensure a caring, healthy and happy community which emphasizes high moral standards, self-discipline, emotional and spiritual development consistent with the School’s environment
- To help in strengthening the school’s reputation with parents and the community and upholding the strong school ethos within a context of high performance but with empathy to the needs of all staff and students;
- To institutionalize school operations ( e.g. oversee policies documentation, processes standardization)
- To help in improving school efficiency (e.g. identify cost saving opportunities and execute cost saving initiatives)
- Create an appropriate and strong management and faculty team that is committed to challenging low performance and to ensuring that the needs of every students are effectively met and that teaching consistently provides the quality students need to achieve well;
- Establish effective systems for managing staff performance and holding teachers and managers to account, and to ensure effective monitoring and evaluation of standards, provision and improvement;
- Share and delegate through distributing leadership responsibility and accountability across the school;
- Promote an internal organization that permits transparent, open communication at all levels;
- Work to produce smooth day-to-day internal operations


Paperwork Requirements: Notarized and Attested academic degrees, teaching certificates, transcripts, marriage and dependent birth certificates. You will be advised of school requirements

Requirements

- Master Degree in Education or Leadership
- Bachelor Degree
- Minimum 5 years teaching experience at Secondary grade level
- Experience in leading a school and transforming a school
- Ability to successfully lead a school academically, operationally and administratively
- Ability to improve a school’s performance;
- Strong educational and pedagogical understanding;
- Ability to effectively manage both performance and people including the use of coaching and mentoring to improve team performance;
- Knowledgeable on the issue of inclusion and meeting the needs of the breadth of the student community;
- Arabic speaker as an advantage;
- Can communicate clearly throughout all departments of the school
- Understanding of challenges and ability to adapt to the organization’s structure
- Sensitive to local culture and heritage;
- Able to work with a multicultural work force;
- Effectively using technology in the school

Due to the forthcoming retirement of the current postholder, the school is seeking a smooth transition and is currently seeking to appoint an Executive Principal to work alongside the current postholder over the transition period and provide longer-term leadership for our well-established and reputable private International School in Riyadh. The School is a large school, predominantly girls, but with a growing number of boys, currently offering the National Curriculum and American Diploma programmes to over 2500 students. The school has been operating since 1964 and has a long history of providing high quality education for the young people of Riyadh. With AdvancedEd accreditation and an ethos that promotes high standards. The school has a long history in achieving good standards and a strong foundation for girls and boys to access university and employment. The school is seeking an Executive Principal to take the school forward through a journey of transformation to build on previous successes and continue the drive for high standards and quality for all students.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified female school leaders with successful experience in leading high performance and school transformation. Although not essential, Arabic would be an advantage as would experience in the American diploma programme.
