Geotechnical Engineer (Marine)

WSP Middle East are currently looking for a Geotechnical Engineer for a major infrastructure (marine) project in Saudi Arabia.

A typical week would include:
* The Geotechnical Engineer will complete routine engineering analysis assignments applying standard methods furnished by the project supervisor.
* Contributes to marine site investigation reporting by interpreting and assimilating various geophysical and geotechnical data under close supervision;
* Writes technical reports.
* Support engineers carrying out multi-disciplinary (Bridge, Building, Dam, Infrastructure, Mining, Tunneling...) projects requiring geotechnical work: site investigations, foundation design and construction, ground improvement design and construction, slope stabilization, etc.;
* Prepare or check field and laboratory results for engineering assessment.
* Interprets marine site investigation geophysical/geotechnical data.
* Provides geological advice in one or a small number of specialized technical disciplines and develops solutions for clients by putting acquired geological data into context.
* Supervise routine field and laboratory operations of the company and subcontractors
* Assess and evaluate geotechnical issues encountered, such as: settlements, liquefaction potential, slope stabilization, interstitial overpressure development, preferential flow, frost heave, excavation and backfilling procedures, etc.;
* Support field operations through supervision and monitoring of boreholes, in situ tests, piezocone soundings, reconnaissance trenches, as well as miscellaneous construction work such as soil embankment construction, subgrade compaction assessment, installation of geosynthetics, etc.;
* You may be required to perform other tasks as part of your role in the team

Requirements

We'd love to hear from you if you have:
* Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, geological engineering, mining engineering or geotechnical engineering, with a few years of experience in the field;
* Previous experience (8+ years) working within the region
* Previous experience in marine, port, dams and similar type of projects.
* Excellent communication skills & the ability to interface with internal design teams & clients alike.
* Sound report writing skills.
* Ability to cope rapidly with challenging situations and keen to solve them in a proactive manner
* A co-operative and helpful attitude to colleagues and clients
* Self-motivating, reliable, consistent, and mature approach to work
* Able to work independently and in teams
* Acceptance of responsibility for work carried out
* Flexible and innovative approach to work
