Group Buyer

Key areas of responsibilities are to purchase food, beverage, guest supplies, repairs and maintenance items, at the right price and at the right time while performing duties within the framework of the standards connected with the product and the direction and regulations laid down by the hotel management. Another key responsibility is to work in close liaison with the purchasing manager, assistant purchasing manager, receiving clerk, storekeeper and cost controller.

Hotel Overview: Makkah Clock Royal Tower, A Fairmont Hotel, is located only a few steps away from the Masjid Al Haram and the Holy Ka'aba. This 76-story hotel, one of the world's tallest, is the focal point of the Abraj Al Bait Complex, part of the King Abdul Aziz Endowment Project, is the iconic symbol of hospitality in the Holy City. The hotel authentic hospitality is seen throughout 1618 guest rooms and suites are thoughtfully and elegantly appointed-with extravagant amenities and five-star services that allow for peaceful reflection and repose .

Summary of Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

- Checks daily new purchase requests received in the system, and verifies departmental specifications data entered correctly.
- Ensures full detailed reasons/explanations are entered through data regarding the item/s requested to be purchased.
- Responsible for obtaining quotations for all purchase requests assigned.
- Ensures best quality, competitive quotes for all procured items.
- Ensures that all PR's are properly completed with all necessary specifications, prior to allocation and forwarding for management approval.
- Ensures purchasing and delivery of all approved Purchase Requests on time to the receiving agent.
- Ensures timely delivery of all the items ordered on the Market List (F&B) daily before 11.00am.
- Prints necessary systems reports for updating and follow-up purposes for approved, not allocated and not authorized Purchase Orders.
- Follow-up with suppliers on items which are not delivered on time. Investigates any discrepancy in price and/or quality provided by the Suppliers.
- Monitors vendor reliability, dependability and establishes contact with prospective suppliers.


Requirements

Qualifications:

- Minimum of 2 years experience in stores, purchasing & receiving, preferably within a hotel environment.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organization and follow-through skills.
- Ability to develop and build relationships, utilize skills appropriately.
- Ability to process information and merchandise through computer system.
- Ability to maintain a fair, consistent set of standards as they apply to work force.
- Ability to adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, understandable manner, and listen attentively to other colleagues.
