Head Mixologist

Summary

You will be responsible for the efficient running of the department in line with Hyatt International's corporate strategies and brand standards, whilst meeting employee, guest and owner expectations. The head mixologist is responsible for leading the beverage program, crafting innovative cocktails, and delivering exceptional guest experiences. This role involves managing the bar team, ensuring operational efficiency, maintaining high-quality standards, and staying ahead of industry trends.

Qualifications

1. Cocktail creation and menu development:

• Design and implement creative, seasonal, and signature cocktails that align with the establishment's concept.
• Collaborate with chefs to create pairings for food and beverage menus.
• Continuously update the menu to reflect trends and customer preferences.

2. Bar operations management:

• Oversee daily bar operations, ensuring efficiency and compliance with health and safety standards.
• Manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stock rotation of bar supplies and ingredients.
• Ensure all equipment is maintained and functioning properly.

3. Team leadership and training:

• Recruit, train, and mentor bar staff to deliver exceptional service and maintain consistency.
• Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
• Conduct regular staff meetings to discuss goals, performance, and updates.

4. Customer service:

• Engage with guests to provide a personalized and memorable experience.
• Address customer inquiries and resolve complaints promptly and professionally.
• Promote special events, tastings, and promotions to enhance guest engagement.

5. Financial management:

• Monitor bar revenue and costs to meet financial targets.
• Develop pricing strategies and cost-effective methods to maximize profitability.
• Analyze sales data to identify trends and opportunities for growth.

6. Innovation and trends:

• Stay informed about industry trends, new techniques, and emerging ingredients.
• Experiment with new concepts to maintain a competitive edge.

Qualifications and skills

• Proven experience as a mixologist, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership role.
• Extensive knowledge of cocktails, non-alcoholic spirits, wine, and beer.
• Strong creativity and ability to innovate in drink design.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in inventory management and bar operations software.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Certification in bartending or mixology is preferred.

About the Company

Hyatt was founded by Jay Pritzker in 1957 when he purchased the Hyatt House motel adjacent to the Los Angeles International Airport. Over the following decade, Jay Pritzker and his brother, Donald Pritzker, working together with other Pritzker family business interests, grew the company into a North American management and hotel ownership company, which became a public company in 1962. In 1968, Hyatt International was formed and subsequently became a separate public company. Hyatt Corporation and Hyatt International Corporation were taken private by the Pritzker family business interests in 1979 and 1982, respectively.
