Employment: Full Time

The F-3 unit is a 33 bed capacity medical oncology unit, providing nursing care for adult patients with various solid tumor disorders and lymphoma's and is the largest medical oncology unit in Saudi Arabia. The current bed occupancy rate is 98%, average length of stay (LOS) 12 days, and a wait list for admission of up to 20 patients, of whom up to five (5) are awaiting transfer from within the hospital.

The current nursing hours per patient day (NHPPD) set at 7.2.

STAFFING:
The number of full time employees (FTE) is 49; comprised of one (1) unit manager(UM), one (1) Assistant Head Nurse; 43 Staff Nurse's (SNI), who are licensed registered nurses (RN), and four (4) ancillary personnel ( nursing support only, such as receptionist duties). Two 'teams'- 'A' and 'B'- work opposing 12 hours shifts, with a nurse patient ratio (NPR) of 1:2/ 1:3 on day shift and 1:4 on the night shift, respectively. There are twelve (12) SNI's scheduled to a weekday shift, nine (9) SNI's to a weekend day, and eight (8) SNI's scheduled for the night shift. All hospital employees are required to work a total of 264 hours during a six (6) week period, which equates to a total of 22 shifts of 12 hours each, for shift workers.

The MOU physician coverage is provided by the Medical Oncology section of the Oncology Department of Medical Affairs (MA) and consists of two (2) residents and two (2) consultants attending weekly patient rounds, while one (1) resident and one (1) consultant provide weekend coverage.

PATIENT CARE ASSIGNMENT:
As the geographical layout of the unit can be described as having two (2) wings 16 & 17 beds each extending to the left and right of the main reception desk respectively - patient care workload, based in the primary care nursing mode of delivery, is divided into a "A" and "B" side; which is further divided into two sub-groups for a total of four- A, B, C,D groups- for the unit. Staff nurses are responsible for allocation of patient assignment and workload for the shifts worked.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse with current nursing license from country of origin
• Two years recent acute care nursing experience
