Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

• Responsible for the planning, organisation and co-ordination of the Foundation Department studies, in line with the College’s strategic priorities, to ensure that an excellent learner experience is provided.
• Work with the Principal of the College, you will be responsible for the leadership and management of the Foundation Tutoring teams, along with the overall student progression across the college.
• Responsible for Programme Management to Assist the Vice Principal in the planning and development of Foundation Studies courses to meet the needs of individual learners, maximise their potential in their chosen field of study and future career, ensure that national targets are met.
• Drive high performance of the team through strong leadership of the Tutors, identifying training and support needs and dealing with underperformance with the appropriate interventions where required.
• Work with the Vice Principal and the Tutors to ensure that the curriculum is appropriate to the needs of the learners and takes account of best practice.
• Monitor and enhance the quality of provision to ensure that learners achieve their learning outcomes and progress to further training and/or employment, including focusing on adding value.
• Work with the other tutors to develop innovative approaches to curriculum delivery.
• Be responsible for ensuring all teaching resources are available and sourced, within budget.
• Work alongside and in collaboration with the other Colleges, to share best practice and positive solutions, to challenges that arise in the delivery of the programme.
• Investigate any student complaints received in line with the relevant policy, and submit it for decision to the Vice Principal.
• Take responsibility for success of timetabling for the Department. Respond and plan for absence and holidays to ensure that the timetable is not affected.
• Develop and implement procedures that ensure consistency and rigour in learner assessment and tracking.
• Assist the Vice Principal to ensure that targets are achieved for recruitment, achievement and success within the department.
• Responsible for Teaching and Staff Training and manage learning and assessment activities, ensure the quality of the Teaching, Learning and Observation program. Assist with the recruitment, induction, development of new staff. Participate in training and team development activities, to update knowledge and skills.
• Participate actively and flexibly in a range of College activities, such as duty rotas, staff and student activities. Create a working environment, which is focused on a culture of innovation, creativity, high performance and a motivated team.
• Understand and be committed to the College’s Health and Safety Policy statement and safety priorities. Ensure the QAA processes are adhered to and improved as required.
• Seek guidance and support from the HR team on all people concerns, so that these can be dealt with appropriately and within the legal framework.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree; minimum of an English certificate including: CELTA, DELTA, TEFEL or TESOL.
• CELTA minimum, though the DELTA Qualification would be advantageous.
• Experience in English Language programmes.
• Experience working in Saudi Arabia or GCC is preferred, though not a deal breaker.
