Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Technician (Service Engineer)

Job description / Role

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

Reporting into the Service Manager, the Service Engineer will be part of the wider Engineering Service team that is responsible for attending breakdowns and carrying out fault-finding, diagnostics, servicing and repairs to a variety of powered access machines. Planned preventative Maintenance (PPMs) will also be a part of the daily duties.

As well as being stationed at your assigned depot workshop, the Service Engineer may work outside of normal depot hours, perform repair and maintenance at clients’ sites or travel outside of assigned depot city for the occasional project at our other depot locations in the GCC.

Planned Maintenance

• Complete planned maintenance activities including maintaining the appearance of the fleet to corporate standard. Ensuring all waste is disposed as per the Company policy.
Repair
• Thoroughly diagnose, fault find and repair machines within the workshop in line with manufactures specification and Company policy. Refrain from undertaking any task in which your ability or knowledge does not allow you to complete.
• Follow the proper R4 procedures when changing the machine status (without deviation) - PHI (4) - Repair (3) - PDI (1) – Available
Quality, Health and Safety

• Maintains the highest level of safety during execution of tasks and that each task is done in conjunction with the relative Safe System Of Work ( SSOW ) and Risk assessment for the task in hand.
• Flag any non-compliances with the health and safety and / or repair standards to the line manager.
• Responsible for understanding and practicing appropriate safety procedures as follows:
o Act as safely at work as you would elsewhere, if not more so
o Use the tools available to you to maintain a safe environment
o Participate in the safety training programme to educate yourself on hazards, safety practices, and rules
o Communicate about unsafe practices and conditions
o Always follow safety rules and regulations
Administration

• Accurately completes all relevant work documentation which is assigned electronically through the Smart Phones, ensuring 100% compliance with data input at all times.
• Obtain warranty instructions and ensure that all warranty claims are completed and passed for recovery
• Support the Service Manager/ Foreman in the effective running of the Depot Workshop.
• Maintain records covering workshop equipment servicing
• Assist with TechX activities.

The chosen candidate will meet ALL the essential criteria below:

ESSENTIAL

• High school education, vocational qualification or above
• Previous experience working on mobile access equipment or similar other mobile plant machinery equipment such as:
- powered access equipment e.g. cherry pickers, scissor lifts, propelled booms and hoists.
- diggers
- drilling equipment
- dumpers
- excavators
- forklifts
- ground-care machinery
- plant machinery
- power generators
- rollers
- Telehandlers
• Strong track record in machine, equipment and diesel engine fault finding / diagnostics, servicing, repair and maintenance
• Able to read electrical, mechanical and hydraulic schematic drawings
• Able to work to Health & Safety regulations and comply with all company policies and procedures

DESIRABLE:

• IPAF demonstrator license
• Knowledgeable of the Oman geographical area

Salary:
SAR 5,000 to 5,500 per month inclusive of fixed allowances.
