Overview

We are seeking a Heterogenous Catalyst Scale-up Expert to join the Catalyst Center of Excellence (CCoE) at Aramco's Research & Development Center (R&DC).

The CCoE is responsible for designing innovative catalysts to convert oil and natural gas into higher value fuels and chemicals, in addition to sustainability catalysts which enable CO2 utilization, low-carbon fuels production, and a hydrogen economy.

The Heterogeneous Catalyst Scale-up Expert's primary role is to conduct R&D activities in scaling-up novel support materials and heterogeneous catalyst formulations while optimizing synthesis procedures at bench-scale by assessing and critiquing the synthesis recipe practicality and viability.

In addition, this role will lead de-risking efforts to scale-up frozen formulations to pilot and demonstration scale, in conjunction with a multi-disciplinary team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assess the scalability of in-house developed catalysts recipes through economic and sustainable routes .

Lead catalyst scale-up activities, which include in-house scale-up and optimization to pilot plant stage, handle communications with toll manufacturing facilities, and ensure quality control as well as delivery to testing facilities in a timely manner.

Develop in-house scale-up competencies to mimic existing manufacturing facilities and practices. In addition, enhance scale-up workflow while capturing intellectual property, as well as publishing relevant novelty in peer reviewed journals.

Initiate novel catalyst development ideas to address business challenges in refining, petrochemicals and sustainability fields.

Lead catalyst development projects, from ideation to deployment, while mitigating commercialization risks through employing catalyst performance testing at different scales with the support of a multi-disciplinary team.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

Master's degree in chemistry , Chemical Engineering or equivalent; PhD is preferred.

At least nine years of experience in conventional refining and/ or petrochemical applications and sustainability catalyst technologies.

Catalysis-specific, Project Management Professional, and/or Professional Engineer certifications are preferred.
