We are currently looking for an experienced Highway Design Engineer/Lead Highway Engineer to join our team based in Al Khobar.

The Engineer will be responsible for carrying out the complete highway design services including design calculations, layouts, drawings, technical reports and specifications in line with the client requirements, local authority requirements and Atkins quality procedures. He will be responsible for leading multidisciplinary infrastructure projects in terms of inter disciplinary co-ordination. The successful candidate will take a leading role in the department, particularly with respect to highway design and working with design teams based in other Atkins regional and Global Design Centre offices. He will be capable of providing planning, leadership and technical expertise in management of complex and interdisciplinary projects. Successful candidate should be willing to travel between Atkins offices and Client offices when and where required.

Requirements

The Ideal candidate will have a minimum qualification of Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering or equivalent, having a minimum of 12 years' experience in infrastructure design industry. The experience will include usage and knowledge of highway design tools such as Mx/Autocad Civil 3D etc.

• Degree in Civil Engineering or other appropriate qualification.
• Minimum of 12 years post graduate experience in major roads and infrastructure design consultancy work.
• Good knowledge of AASHTO, DMRB and regional design standards for highways
• Good knowledge of the design procedures for major highway projects
• Good experience in the geometric design of roads, roundabouts, junctions and interchanges, traffic projections and pavement design methodologies.
• Has knowledge of highway design software (MX Road/ AutoCAD Civil 3D project experience preferable).
• Demonstrate a high level of expertise in design
• Good knowledge of local and international codes and standards
• Ideally, shall be proficient in the use of design software like Mx/Autocad Civil etc.
• Good understanding of Utility Corridor design
• Good knowledge of highway geometry, signs, road marking, traffic signal design and pavement design.
• Understanding of pavement maintenance and rehabilitation methods.
• Understanding of road safety audits
• Able to produce technical reports in English in a clear and concise form.
• Able to communicate effectively with both colleagues and clients
• Able to work with and manage junior engineers and technicians
• Good presentational skills
• A competent ability to utilise Microsoft Office suite of products and Microsoft Project

Desirable
• Have an aptitude to multi-task and be self-starting in new business environments
• Masters in Civil Engineering (Transportation/Highways/Urban Planning)
• Has good knowledge on traffic management for urban areas
• Ability to actively led tender submissions; both technically and commercially.
